Post 2020 DME unlock with AutoTuner

Noob question. I've read a couple things about unlocks and tuning but still having trouble completely grasping the process. One must 1st, get the DME unlocked via AT or Femto. I can safely reinstall and drive the car if needed. Once I am ready to tune, I purchase my preffered tuning platform, and this is installed stateside? Any other steps I'm missing?

How long after they sent the shipping label generation in progress email did you get your label. I placed mine early this morning and still waiting.

I ordered on Friday evening so they were already closed for the weekend due to time zone difference. I got the email at 2-3am this morning, pretty much right after they opened for business.

Orders done at 10am EST would be received by them at 4pm their time. So you'll probably have it waiting for you when you wake up tomorrow. I was able to schedule my DHL same day. I did it this morning and they just picked it up a couple hours ago.

Since Autotuner generates the labels for you, they submit the paperwork to DHL and the label has the proper markers on it which are return for repair, return after repair, Contents: Automotive engine control unit software update (repair).

Here's the email you'll receive. At the bottom there will be 4 attachments for your order (not shown in my screenshot).

1. Outbound shipping label
2. Outbound commercial invoice (tape to outside of package and I included one inside)
3. Return shipping label
4. Return commercial invoice

For packing they say to ship it according to DHL's suggestions. I had a spare Apache 3800 case laying around so I shipped it in that since they had a similar type option available from them. I did put some painter's tape on my ECU with my name and order number for safety's sake to help them keep it organized.

Arrived to Autotuner late last night (Wednesday morning in Europe). They triggered the return shipping notification email at 5am USA time. I'm waiting for it to scan in as picked up currently, which I'm expecting to happen in the next 3 hours since that's around the end of business day for them.

Edit: It is confirmed scanned in and on the way back so they do turn it around same day

I really hope the Autotuner and MHD+ combo works out.
Car is parked for winter so I'll be lurking for feedback from the early adopters before pulling the trigger in the spring.

ECU made it back to the US yesterday. It was set to "hold" while it was processing in customs and DHL sent me the import tariff to pay. I believe I should have the ECU back Monday or Tuesday. This amount lines up with the same amount a friend paid for his shipment that came back from Femto via DHL.
