Hoping someone can shed a little light on my issue.

2020 LE dp/RK ti track edition exhaust, HKS air intake and tuned. 70k

Driving home today, 50 mph, no hard driving or acceleration, in traffic and I get a warning message stating drivetrain malfunction/over heating. Lost all power and won't accelerate when I press on the gas pedal. Pulled over to the side of the roadway and it won't go out of park. I try and put it in drive/reverse and it just goes straight back into park.

Car runs fine, no misfires or vibrating etc. turned the car off for several minutes, turned back on and I noticed on initial start up white smoke coming from the pass side engine bay area, only briefly. Lots of white smoke from the exhaust.

I checked the coolant level as I have had issues with that before and it was fine.

I do suspect I have possibly a fault with the turbo, coolant runs low and I had to add oil after 2000 miles since an oil change. I did change the coolant cap (the larger one) and it seems to have helped. I was getting white smoke from the exhaust, low coolant etc.

So, had to have it towed to a mechanic, have googled and read a bunch on the interwebz. Anyone any ideas?

Understandable. Mechanic won't be there until Monday, so will have him run the codes then. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue in the past and what it was.

****Could be something, could be nothing**** I did see the coolant was well over filled. Now reading up on the b58 gen 2, seems you have to be real careful with that. Can cause issues with cooling etc. (due to not enough expansion allowed because of over filling).

Without the game there shall be no codes to exist.

Part stores can check codes.
I don’t think their readers will be able to find these codes or run the calibration needed to get the issue to go away. It can’t be found with a standard obd 2 reader. At least that was my experience

My suggestion is to pull the plugs and have a look at them to see if one is fouling or has been not firing which may be difficult after some time not running so try changing them out. What can happen and does with injected engines I have worked on is if it drops a cylinder due to ignition issues then it still injects fuel into the cylinder which doesn't burn and washes down the cylinder wall of lubricant which along with the unburned fuel then goes down the exhaust and it accumulates there and eventually the fuel/oil mixture starts burning in the exhaust causing smoke. I know you said the car seemed to be running fine but all this can happen fairly quickly and seeing your mechanic is away for a while if you are able to replace the plugs or at least have a look at them it might be worth it.

Thanks Phil. I bought the car end of June this year, put just over 3000 miles on it. The dealer stated they replaced plugs as part of the service before it being listed for sale. That being said, if I were to take out the plugs they shouldn't be that dirty / carbonized correct? Due to the low milage on the new plugs, If they are, or one is.... that maybe part of the issue?

Did it not allow you to get out of park? When I pulled off to the side of the road I put it in park. After that whenever I tried to get into drive or reverse it would just go straight back to park. I couldn't move/drive the car.
