So i've seen that Litchfield have announced they got 420 with a remap and the potential for more with exhaust.

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/modified/litchfield-has-boosted-toyota-supra-over-420bhp

I was wondering if any other UK buyers are tempted by this?

I saw somewhere that Toyota said that changing the exhaust wouldn't affect the warranty, but messing with the ECU would. If Litchfield can back the remap with a warranty, i'm going to be seriously tempted to take it there for a remap and exhaust once it's run in.

I did have a chat with Toyota multiple times about this. Seemed stupid to make a car as the base for tuners but not offer warranty on a remap.

Does make sense, but still contradictory. I’d be tempted but the problem is with new cars/maps is that there is no longitudinal result as to whether it’s safe as still new

I think Evolve will be doing their thing
Same with SRD

I won't be myself.
1) The stock cars are making ~370hp on the dyno, which is plenty. My ~330hp RX-7 is quick enough, I can't imagine feeling like the Supra needs more power. Yes, above about 100mph it'll make a difference, especially if you get up around 450hp as mentioned here https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph...a-set-for-450hp-with-litchfield-upgrade/40705 , but really, how often are you overtaking/racing someone at triple-digit speeds?
2) As discussed, it compromises the warranty. One of the main attractions of the Supra is simply that it's a brand new car with a five year manufacturer warranty, so I can get away from big repair bills.
3) "To get the most from the new pipes, Litchfield unsurprisingly will ditch the Supra's factory-fit particulate filter." While uncorking a better noise is attractive and I can see the breathing gains from this, I have a slight concern in the long run. While it may not be checked in the MoT today, as the first GPF-required cars get towards the three-year mark and their first tests, I can imagine such checks being added, as they have been for DPFs. Another hassle I'm aiming to get away from by buying a new car.

Having said that, if you want to try and recreate the glory days of the Wangan with nocturnal 200mph runs on suitable quiet dual carriageways, this seems like a good place to start, and I'm sure the B58 is more than up to the task :)

I actually had an email from my Supra Champion with a link to the news on the Litchfield tune... so i'll be asking him if they'll cover the warranty if it's tuned, you never know.

The Subaru that the Supra will be replacing is tuned to 430 and so it's something I'm seriously considering. A lot will depend on if Litchfield (or other places) can offer a warranty. The MOT shouldn't be a worry as it's 3 years away and as long as I keep the parts that come off I can always put it back to factory spec

I remember reading somewhere that Litchfield do give a warranty for their tunes but it would still likely invalidate the Toyota one. Just depends if they can work together with the warranties as in Litchfield cover the engine and the Toyota one is good for the rest then that would be good.

I'm tempted to get it tuned at some point but likely a few years down the road once more aftermarket parts and options are available.

The official Toyota blog mentions various tuners: https://blog.toyota.co.uk/toyota-supra-tuning-tour-underway

Will be interested to see if they offer any form of combined warranty with the tuners.
I asked them about it and they didn't really say anything...

"Hi Scott, while we currently have no information on a tuning package, this is only the start of the Supra's return - keep your eyes peeled for all the updates!"

I'll be working with Julian at Garage-D to boost the power on mine.

Toyota wont give warranty on the part you've changed or anything directly influenced by it but will cover everything else.

I thought that originally... but just seen two guys in the USA be denied warranty on steering rack issues because they had the car mapped (well one of them didn't even get it mapped, they just had it on a dyno to get stock figures). Pretty ridiculous. Full video explanation of both cases here:

As for the original question - I've been ignored by Litchfield before when I had another car I was considering getting them to tune, so I'm not particularly keen on giving them my business now.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Ecutek about how their ECU flash is coming along. But if that's going to be quite a while, I'll probably go for the Bootmod3 ECU flash, and then get it mapped either by Fensport or Abbey Motorsport. Worked with both of them on previous cars (turbo GT86 and twin turbo 350Z) and been happy with results.

Will only be doing that after swapping the downpipe out for a larger one without a cat in it though (considering making my own at the moment, as there's not much to them and paying import costs for getting the Titan one from america might end up being fairly expensive)

Ecutek is coming. not sure on the eta, im in the dev group with ecutek.

Also, we can tune you on MHD right now. its just not released to the public yet. We also have a downpipe coming out but like you said, the cost of import may be higher. they kill you guys over there.

Give it a few weeks. I'm working with a tuner here and we should have the basics (downpipe, remap, etc) very soon.

I'm going to be looking to get a GPF back Milltek exhaust on mine in the coming months.

I saw that Litchfield on instagram are reporting their stage 1 is available and on their test car got 446bhp and 455lbft on Vpower with no other changes. That's a big jump and i'd want to know if the gearbox can handle that extra torque. I was going to ring them next week and ask about that, plus if they'll offer a warranty on the engine. I'll report back on what they say.

People in america running 600 bhp with meth injection and upgraded turbos etc, so I can't see why the stage 1 litchfield map would be an issue for the gearbox.

I emailed them the other day as well so will see if they get back to me this week

I've heard back from Milltek who are saying that their GPF back exhaust is no louder than the stock version with the silencer and that they offer a "race" version without silencer, but this is also without a valve to control the volume in normal mode.

I'm wondering if there are any other options out there that would give a louder exhaust, but still retain the valving system? Akrapovic I think offer this, but haven't got any experience with them, other than them seeming expensive.
