I don't think it looks that much smaller. Its just more of a shorter wheelbase. Going from 184in to 177in is only a 7in differences.

of course it doesn't "look" smaller when the mule is considerably taller everywhere.

The concept sits at 48in; the production car will most likely be 50in. 2in differences isn't that much in my book.

proportion. lay the two on top of each other. where does the bottom of the window line sit in relation to the body? as you said, the length is shorter, so any increase in height will only make the car look frumpy compared to the ft1.

Yeah that isn't correct. You have the prototype wheels the same as the concept wheels.
oh please, I went with the size of the wheel arches which isn't that big on the FT1. those two pics are shot at the same angle unlike the two you overlapped which are a bit off..who cares anyways, you can tell it is proportionally taller by merely eyeballing it.

for reference in comparison to dimensions we know

My comparison was from the same angel... Yeah the prototype is slightly taller, but only by like 2 inches or so. You make it seem more like 6+. Concept wheels are 21in, and the M4 wheels are 19in. Not to mention your wheelbase is way off.

The height is going to be around 50 inches. This isn't a Camry were are talking about.

Z4 Height 1,291 mm (50.8 in)
Supra Height 1,265 mm (49.8 in)
86 Height 1,285 mm (50.6 in)

your pic makes the wheelbase look like it is 2 feet shorter
You're still on this? Each box represents 1.5 inch.

Height differences: 1.5in
Length differences: 7.5in
Wheelbase differences: 10.5in

Is mines 100% accurate. Probably not, but still miles ahead of yours. Your comparison basically has it as the same overall length and wheelbase.

As I mentioned before, the length of the lens, image sensor size, and distance (not to mention rectilinear distortion) plays a big role in how objects look proportionally in an image. Basically, unless the two images are taken at the same focal distance, on the same sensor, with the same lens, you can't really make an accurate interpretation of scale.

We just need a German member of ours to take a tape measure to the Nurburgring and then we can get some solid numbers.
