Yes. I don’t know how else I would interpret this statement at 7:00 in the video posted, “I mean look at new Supra. It’s not good at all. Honestly, I can’t do anything for this car.

You could say his statement was hyperbolic or he is speaking out of frustration/disappointment but this is a professional interview and not over a beer with buddies.

The more expensive cars definitely help find what the car is lacking and what can make it better, but based off what he has said above, he isn’t in the mindset to make the car better.
Well obviously he is in the pics that I've linked. C/O, BBK, BBS... This is the reason for why we mod cars; to make it better then OEM. Look at his garage and his array of awesomeness. I don't blame him either for putting the Supra down.

It comes back to his comments and reactions. If he says the "car can't battle at all" and "I can’t do anything for this car" but his actions say otherwise, why should we listen to what he has to say? There is no substance here.

What is left here is "It's a BMW anyway, it's a waste of money." So all of these statements boil down to him expressing his disappointment in the BMW partnership with justifications that he doesn't even believe in. Although this is a valid disappointment, I challenge this appointment because Toyota released a tuner car in a time when tuner cars are shrinking in the current Japanese automotive landscape. When/If Mazda releases their new coupe and/or Nissan releases their new Z car, my challenge is nullified, but until I don't think it is fair to fault Toyota.

He said something to get a reaction and he did. I don't know why you're so focused on it. Wait until the 400Z comes out and Kobayashi will hate the Zupra even more since he's a Nissan head. If there is any validity to the specs, this will definitely give the MKV a serious run for it's money and a huge slap in the face to Toyota. No help needed. I hope it delivers with a lot of the throwback 240Z references.

The new Z, code-named Z35, won't be a ground-up rethink. It will continue on the latest version of Nissan's FM platform and share components with the Infiniti Q60 coupe. The twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 that makes up to 400 horsepower in the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 seems like a shoo-in. A seven-speed automatic is the only transmission available in those Infinitis, but we're hopeful that a stick shift will be offered as well. Nissan already hinted that such a thing is possible when it bolted a six-speed manual to the twin-turbo engine for a modified 370Z SEMA concept in 2019. The engine and architecture can accommodate all-wheel drive, but we doubt Nissan will go that route. The Z is a front-engine rear-wheel-drive sports car, and this one should stay true to that heritage.

The original Datsun 240Z is said to serve as a styling inspiration. We hope that means the 400Z will present simple, clean lines rather than the busy, borderline-tortured look seen on some recent Nissan concepts and production cars. Roundish headlights and 300ZX-style taillights will reportedly serve as key retro touches.

The old-school theme won't extend inside; that's a good thing because the Z's interior is in need of a modern makeover. The cabin should retain its cozy two-seat atmosphere, but it'll benefit from the latest Nissan infotainment system and a fresh dashboard design.

Hopefully they stop using cheap plastic like they did in the 350 and 370

Won't the 400z be a combination of Nissan, Renault, and AMG parts?

Nissan always had cheap looking and structured plastic parts even back in the 80-90’s. I just hope the exterior and interior design layout is simple and not exaggerated like what the article mentioned and what Nissan’s currently look like.

Probably. The rendering looks like an mini Vantage. If they can pull off a 400hp TT, 6 speed and look like this, good night Supra.

One reason I got the 2020 was I, from the time it was new, wanted a 240Z and never liked the later ones but didn't like the plastic on the dash etc. The 2020 to me, is like an ultra modern 240Z but the images above, don't impress me at all and lack character/individuality.

Right, that is why I said his opinion isn't constructive and why this interview is pointless commentary.

I have been hearing these things since 2013, and haven't seen a thing out of Nissan. Also, it the car has help with Renault and AMG then it wouldn't be "no help needed" development. I really hope they do pull it off though in house, it would make Toyota look even more foolish.

^From the vid above. I think if Toyota had made the wheelbase slightly longer people wouldn't be complaining so much about it being too watered down from the FT1. I also think a longer wheelbase would make the car appear a bit larger.

Just a quickie I did.

Ugh.... just wasted time watching that pointless review. Looks like she is used to driving a lot slower cars.... Do people really watch her reviews? She isn’t even that cute.....
