it's more evident why the car is going to cost $55k now; it's exactly because of those exotic materials, but that said there aren't a ton.

there's one particular spot where they're using most of it and it ends up saving a ton of weight.
CFRP tub?????? :dunno::spaz:

:bump:

Also, I hope and pray those paddles are hooked up to one of the getrag dual clutch boxes in BMW's repertoire.

yep, just 6cylinder car with paddles. apparently this has never changed either from what I heard.

they've been testing the same cars for the same purpose and while there are all sorts of rumors and arguments, the 6cyl car was always the goal. that said, it doesn't mean they arent still developing other options, just means they arent intended for production at this time.
A lot of people are going to hate hearing supra and paddle shifters in the same sentence

CFRP tub?????? :dunno::spaz:.
That was my thought too - there seems to be no other component that is going to save nearly as much weight being made out of an exotic material as the tub. Given what we know of the car's other specs, if it were made of conventional materials only it would probably come in at 3200+ lbs. Only a carbon fibre or other advanced composite tub is going to save that 300+ pounds.

IIRC there are now new formulations that mix CF with other materials which are cheaper to manufacture than "traditional" CF but retain the strength and lightness - maybe Toyota will be pioneering something of that nature with this car.

Hi, thanks. They did not say anything about the capacity or cylinders of the engine, neither the amount of seats. Just the power output. And the car was far away and it was moved on a rollerbed out within 2 minutes we saw it. It was gunmetal grey.
Just curious: So did Akio ask for feedback from you guys on looks? power output expectations? Any request pushing for a manual transmission? Or was it more like this is what you're getting in a year or 2?

My dad runs a Toyota dealership and just came back from a BIG Toyota Event in Copenhagen, were no other that Akio Toyoda showed the new 2019 Supra. It was a big surprise to everyone, as there had been no mention of an "unveiling" there.

Everyone had to give in their phones, so there was no pictures taken, however my dad says the car was very close to this :

Some more info Akio gave in his speech:
-They are cooperating with BMW :thumbsdown:
-appr. 340hp (6 cyl model i guess)
-for sale 2019

If the pic above shows the actual car, and they dont change anything, im happy.

Just joined the forum today, as i thought this info would be appriciated. Thanks!

This sounds exactly like what @Nikispeed posted a few days ago.

Saw the real car yesterday in Denmark. Akio Toyota presented it to the European dealers.
It looks ok and pretty much like expected. The only information we got was it has 340horses, has a Toyota Engine and will debut in 2019.
That’s all. But yes it looks not like the FT1 more like the red car scatch on this side. The front bumper is a bit different. No pictures sorry, they took all our cameras!
Oh and there will be a GRMN Version coming too at some point with probably a little more thrust!

Okey. Me and my dad was just browsing Google for something close to what he saw. And that looked a lot like it. It defo did not have the big side air intake as the FT-1, and a less agressive front, but headlights and the shape was close.

Hopefully the 340hp is just for the EU. I'm still hopeful that other markets will get a more powerful version.

Hmmm, our insider @A70TTR has said it will look closer to this. That there is no thin intake right under the headlights.

Odd, @Nikispeed said it looks closer to Admin's rendering. I don't know what to believe anymore. :what: :dunno:
