B58 is at 613whp, another 300whp to go. So 1000hp+ is the threshold to use a Supra badge? How many years of development does the aftermarket for the MKV get to meet that threshold?
I am hopeful that the MKV is going to turn into a monster as soon as aftermarket companies and tuners get ahold of it!

As far as the Supra badge threshold goes... I believe the reason Supra's still demand a premium price tag in today's market is for the simple fact that people know you don't have to do much internally to the motor or rear end if you are knocking at the 900whp door. I also believe, it has to do with the fact that the MKIV has aged so well, even compared to a lot of cars today, it looks ahead of its time. People still to this day ask me what kind of car I drive and are blown away when I tell them its a 93' or a 98'.

I think the MKV is going to do really well and I hope it's a success to be honest. I would really like Toyota to continue to pursue more sports cars in the future and I wouldn't mind a badass gasoline/electric Supra down the road. It needs to be a success in order for us to see something exciting from Toyota down the road.

I personally have never done any warranty work. I'd drive the car for 2-3 oil changes to make sure everything is working properly and then start performance mods. If something is gonna break it would have already.

Where I'm from dealerships are extremely unprofessional. They have no idea what they're fixing and you will probably get your car back with more problems than when you left it. I just rather enjoy working on it myself and do whatever the hell I want with it.

In case of people who make 1000hp out of a brand new car, they probably have more money than to worry about warranty.

I would keep my eye on Ekanoo Racing. They're either gonna take that B58 to another level or be the first to swap a billet 2JZ in that chassis. Probably turn it to a pro mod before they're done with it.

It looks like Iā€™d be the most boring man alive if Iā€™d buy a Supra and let it how it comes out of the factory!?

Yes, I did it, registered for the ā€žClub 900ā€œ. Waiting for everything that comes up right now. Iā€™m still not sure if I have to buy that car. But if Iā€™d do so, I would keep it how it is. And in about 30 years, maybe someone is very happy to inherit an original one. ;)

We've discovered the full catalog of A90 Supra part diagrams]

This is great... enough detail to build my own supra at home, and Iā€™ll probably still finish before Toyota launches theirs.

JZA70/JZX81/JZX90 1JZ-GTE's have the hydro fan.
JZZ30/JZX100/JZX110 1JZ-GTE's don't have the hydro fan.
JZS147 2JZ-GTE's have the hydro fan.
JZA80/JZS161 2JZ-GTE's don't have the hydro fan.

Water pumps without hydro fan had plastic impellers until April 1995, with the hydro fan I think they may have all had the plastic impeller, but I'd need to look into it more.

I'm not sure the exact reasons they switched away, but usually in these cases it will be either cost or reliability. I suspect the latter, but the former could be the case too. I'll see what I can find.

If the A90 Supra's engine does rev to 7700rpm, it will have a mean piston speed of 24.3m/s, which is quite high but nothing modern metallurgy can't handle.

I wonder what Toyota service departments are doing to prepare the techs for these cars.
Is the company concerned with bmw parts hurting their reliability score? Or is the BMW/Toyota partnership to help with BMW's reliability concerns?
Will it be cheaper to service your car at Toyota or BMW? WIll parts be cheaper at Toyota or BMW?

(All rhetorical questions obviously but I think they are important to bring up)

Toyota techs are gonna love the plastic screw plugs on the MKVā€™s cooling system.
