It's very likely the organization you've signed up for HPDE has a guide and checklist of items you are required to do/have and recommendations too.
There's a forum section for driving events too: https://www.supramkv.com/forums/tracking-autocross-hpde-drifting.23/
For your first time...
It's a pretty common strategy to get a second set of factory tires. Something to consider that others have done is run a small front spacer and get a second set of rear wheels for the front (275 square or 285 if you like).
After chewing through my factory tires - which perform decently on...
Following along! Regardless what tires or wheel combo you end up with, you're going to want more camber (at least in front) and unfortunately front camber is not adjustable from the factory. Lowering the car will give you a bit more camber but you'll probably find on track you'll fight for even...
Kind of the typical wet brakes/corrosion experienced by brembo pads (and others performance pads). Sounds almost like a whining horn. If you crank your steering left/right at a standstill while holding your brakes you might be able to replicate those noises too. I live in a foggy/humid climate...
The scrutiny of parts and reliability happened for the original motor. That's well documented. Where did they have the time or money to do the same years of scrutiny and testing for the modified 2021+ engine? It would have had to be done concurrently with the original 2020 design and would have...
I am not a technician, although my eye darts to Thrust Angle when a car pulls. Also some techs will do a good job of centering the steering wheel - while some are lazy, but even if the steering wheel is off center, if an alignment (and the tires) are all good, the car should track straight on...
Can the supra meet/exceed EPA figures for both City/Highway/Mixed? Yes for me.
Do I actually achieve those figures initiating all the annoying pops and bangs and driving on track? Naw. You're in Houston...bottled water costs more than fuel there.
Got mine, it's awesome! Very high quality.
If there is a future run with the size maybe 50-60% the current size I'd probably jump on that too and use these larger ones on a bag or something else - I prefer smaller but these are very nice. Thanks!
I'll try to chime in later this month when hopefully I have the SPL FLCA and Caster installed. All other suspension components will be stock, but of course the alignment will change to be more track-focused. Logic tells me it'll feel a bit harsher but excited to actually try it out myself.
Thanks! Frankly I'm not concerned, more fascinated. But I'd be interested if it's something I should be concerned about! Looking forward to your results. I did use a pic just to lightly run over the surface of the waves. I couldn't feel anything till I hit the borders of the wear path.
Was curious to see what I could see through the oil filler cap. I put my phone on the engine cover and snapped a photo. I would appreciate anyone willing to snap and share.
I noticed wavy lines on the camshaft. I know there are engine experts here but also this is fairly easy to photograph...
