The first time I test drove the Supra (a used 2021) I still owned my ND2 Miata. You’re spot on with your assessment. The Miata is raw and engaging pretty much all the time. The Supra is fairly disconnected by comparison. Though now that I own one I’ve discovered that it at least gets pretty...
I've made this same reply to a similar comment in another thread. I don't agree with your take at all. They've made a couple videos where they preferred the driving characteristics of the new Z over the Supra, but they've also praised the Supra several times. They liked it in their first videos...
One thing to keep in mind with the 981 and 982 (718) Cayman/Boxster is that the gearing is really long. So they can feel a bit gutless because of that.
A Miata on the other hand has pretty short gearing. So even though it's down on power, it feels eager off the line and in city driving. It's...
I had planned on running 235/40R19 and 255/40R19 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires on stock rims for the winter, but decided to go with a square all aftermarket setup instead (245/45R18).
Huh. I had no idea the front lip was actually painted. I was going to have my PPF installer skip it next week. Now I’ll ask for it to be done for sure.
l lived in Iowa with my first Miata and still loved it. It's the kind of car that's fun to just drive around town.
Is the Supra the better car? I think it's the better daily driver, but outside that it depends on what you're after. As others have said: test drive a ND and see what you think. I...
I’ve owned 4 Miatas. A NC2 PRHT, ND1 RF, NC3 PRHT, and ND2 RF (in that order). All manuals, and all a joy to drive. However, I also found them all exhausting on longer drives, especially road trips. Comes down to the noise and constant driver feedback. Both of those are pluses on a backroad...
On the 500 mile trip home from buying my Supra last weekend I couldn't get the USB port to charge my phone. So I resorted to using the charging pad. As others have reported my iPhone (13 Pro) got very hot. It also became mostly unresponsive for a couple hours after taking it off.
I'm headed to...
Pickup went well. Car was in perfect condition. Wrapped the entire front end with Trakktape temporary PPF. Which mostly survived the 500 mile drive home.
This dealer is fairly high volume considering they’re in the Midwest, and this was the only Supra they’ve received since at least April of...
If they think it’ll be there by end of October it would probably need to be in the country by now.
Use the inventory search on Toyota.com and find the car that’s allocated to your dealer. If it’s getting close to delivery there should be some estimated availability dates shown.
Alternatively...
About a week ago my estimated delivery changed to 09/29-10/04. This morning the date vanished, then an hour later my sales person reached out to let me know the car arrived. They got no heads up that it was on its way.
Making the trip to pick it up tomorrow :)
The gearing is too long for even the PDK 718 base model IMHO. A 2.0 turbo 4 like that needs pretty short gearing to not feel dead down low. It's both a negative and a positive depending on what you like. It certainly makes the top end more entertaining than a lot of turbo cars.
I’m also at...
