That looks very promising. Hoping this turns out right. But with the stats we've getting that the Supra could have 350hp, 3200+ lbs, and $60k pricing, this doesn't look too good either.
I'm reaaally hoping that Tada is bluffing. If he's so insistently saying "not in the cards at the moment", "not considering", "not enough demand", and "the same enthusiasts didn't want a manual", not to mention that model code with one of Bimmer's old autoboxes in the Supra, then he's setting up...
Not anything drastic. Maybe not even that visible. The prototypes are for the most part close to what we'll actually see, since we're this far into the cycle.
Outhandling a GT350? Likely. Price range is a bit out of its league, though. Still nowhere near the power. My estimate put the stock Supra Turbo at 360 or so, and the Shelby has 526.
Although a C7 GS would be a nice comparison. 100 up on horsepower, but better at handling.
Did anyone read the...
Yeah. The double-bubble roof was probably taken a bit far, but loving the new running lights.
As well as those two-tone wheels; too contrast-y, but awesome.
Also, wishful thinking that the vent below the outer edge of the taillights actually does something.
Did it ever occur to you that it...
Hmm. What makes you think that? Not to be contentious in any way, just want to see your reasoning.
The Supra didn't have all that silly camouflage even a year ago.
Count me interested.
Isn't it that the B/S-series engines from BMW have always been famously tuneable? The E30-through-E92 M3s all had S-series engines.
I don't know how they'll make it have "JZ-like" attributes. Maybe a turbo hump?
And also, does anyone think they'll call the engine the...
Probably not. The way the prototype sounds, it looks like it's just gonna be a slightly muted S58 Bimmer engine.
Besides, different manufacturers.
I'm not an expert tho.
Or it could be because of the modding potential. Civics aren't ridiculed for lack of power. If you cared, you could make a 700whp Civic; they're that tuneable. It's because of Honda's small engines division (lawnmowers).
"Zupra" It depends. If you're benchmarking this against a 718, it is actually pretty competitive. Now people will say that MR is superior. I don't know, I've neither driven an MR car hard, nor have I driven a Supra MkV. So it's really an unfair comparison.
Take a standard 2.0L (do they still...
I don't really like its chances. They're all 488s, Vantages, Porsches, M6s, M8s, the like. But if it's only the looks, and it does actually have a Toyota engine and everything...
LFA GT race car, anyone?
I don't know about black wheels. Never much had a taste for them. None of the other Supras had black wheels...
I kinda like all the concept wheels they gave us. The two-tone wheel painter did leave a rough layer on the black spokes (perhaps they did that as its own bit of camouflage), but all of...
Yeah. Don't cuss.
But maybe he has a point. Tada did screw up some logistics with the GT86 transfer from the Sciobaru platform. And I think I speak for everyone when I say I reeeally don't want him to screw up this too.
If only Hiromu Naruse were here...
