Hello,
I purchased my 2021 Supra 3.0 at the end of February. I did a easy/mild break in (kept revs under 4,500 RPMs for 95% of the time). At 1,700 miles I had the oil replaced at my local Toyota dealer.
Came back from a drive to big bear and decided to check the oil level at 5,200 miles (3,500 miles after first oil change) and saw that it was at the minimum level. I called Toyota Corporate and told them I want to create a case on this and get this figured out as I heard this is common for the 2021's. The following day I performed the oil change myself with the genuine GR 0W-20 oil and saw that only 3-4 quarts were left.
After a few days I called Toyota again and they gave me a case number and scheduled an appointment at the dealer. Went to the dealer and they they said that their shop foreman advised the tech to just top off the oil. I told them that I did an oil change less than 50 miles ago and they said, "yea, it barely needed any". After I picked up the car I noticed that the ticket they gave me stated that it is the customers obligation to regularly check and top off the oil periodically and this is currently under investigation with Toyota. So I called them back to get more details and they said, "Consuming oil is on of the characteristics of this engine. You will need to check it every 1,000 miles and top off as needed or take it here and we will top off as needed".
Is this the normal statement that Toyota is telling customers now? To me it sounds kind of lackadaisical.
