And if anyone thinks it's only Toyota assembly workers who mess up......

I really hope they fix this quickly for you Dave! All my problems have been minimal or self induced.

Any ETA on when you’ll get yours back?

Thanks, Mark. ETA for the parts and tools is 1/12, but I am hoping that is a worst case date. In the meantime, a replacement front emblem is due in, also. On the positive side of things, the Hybrid Max Crown (loaner car) is a very calming ride with near total silence, silky ride, decent power (Car & Driver got a 0 - 60 time in 5.1 seconds), and polarizing looks that draws stares.

On the sidelines is my quest to find out why the Supra's window sticker includes an option (Emblem) for $135 that cannot be identified yet. It seems to be an enigma at this point. :dunno:

Latest plan:
Attempt to have the Supra tech verify the fluid level and hopefully clean the diff before rechecking the leak origination if he hadn't done this previously.
If this is not possible or if the service advisor does not get back to me, soon, I will take possession of my car and bring it to a local BMW-specific repair shop. The person to whom I spoke, today does have access to verifying Toyota parts, using my car's VIN number. BMW seals are available, locally within a day or two.

I like to give people the benefit of proving themselves before I simply reject them.

Then why come on a forum with very experienced and knowledgably people and reject their suggestions and experience?

Not a Corvette.

Except for any experienced people on this forum that own and work on the same car with arguably way more experience than some "tech" at a dealer, right?

You know that anyone with internet can do that exact same thing right? I do it weekly.

So you can agree with two opposing views at the same time? A good manager will not ignore a younger employee, just because his or her view about something does not agree with the older employees.
When I was 23 and in the process of replacing a guy who was retiring, he discovered that his 1.5 wrapped, Teflon-taped pneumatic fitting was leaking.
I suggested that he wrap the fitting with enough tape for two circumferential wraps. His response was, "DON'T TELL ME HOW TO DO THIS. I'VE BEEN DOING IT FOR 40 YEARS!"
Shockingly, two wraps did solve the leak issue.
So don't automatically discount the young guy.

And ironically now you are the "know it all" engineer who your way is the right way. When it clearly is not. You ignored sound and vetted advice.

Why come to the forum for help if you're going to trust a supra tech which holds next to no weight other than be okayed to touch a supra? I would listen to the "younger" person if they had already provided you with a plausible solution instead of testing random stuff to see what fits.

There's guys on here that have tinkered with the Supra way more than what a supra tech has seen since the cars release.

Just before the Titan deep sea submarine imploded, killing all occupants, it was likely that the inexperienced passengers asked if the pinging noise they heard was anything to be concerned about. The owner, who had years of experience probably replied, "Don't worry; I've heard this many times before."

Just because an issue is due to one component some of the time doesn't necessarily mean it is the a cause, all of the time.
The leakage may still be due to a shaft seal. So don't count your chickens before they hatch!
