Could be interesting. Will Infiniti used their V6 or the superior Daimler I6? Would this car be based on a new SLC coupe?

I have a problem, because German cars are not that bad, but their badges have become repulsive.

Nissan did the Q30/QX30 with Mercedes, and the reviews on the car are far less than stellar from what I've seen.

I'm not a big Merc fan in general though, aside from the AMG GT.

now that sounds much more believable and would explain why we havent seen or heard of any Z mules or concepts, in addition to, several Nissan bosses saying no development on the new Z has taken place.

they're still in whiteboard stage for the next GTR for comparison (according to some friends I have over there), and that car is far more important for them as a marketing symbol among other things.

Maybe this will push Toyota, to provide us more base HP and other items, to not lose them to the new Z ?
Considering that the Infiniti version weighs 3862 in RWD form and the weight difference between the last Z vs G was ~359lbs, then even if the 400Z(?) is 400lbs lighter (which is certainly a feat), it'll be ~3460 lbs. Assuming the Supra comes with ~350hp and weighs 3000lbs, the 400hp/3460lb Z may already be fairly closely matched in terms of spec to spec. Still, specs are only a small part of the story, and there's no real confirmation from Nissan that the details aren't a bunch of baloney anyways.

All that being said, a new Z car is long overdue and will be great to see. Competition breeds innovation, and a comparable Z car to the Supra would definitely spur both brands to perform their best. If the iDX had been greenlighted by Nissan, I bet you guys would have seen a second gen 86 with FI like you've all been lusting after... :dunno: But sadly that just isn't how the cards played out.

Interesting! Have so much fond memories in my 350Z.

With all the bs about the manual A90; i've been really inclined to buy a 370z and drop a 500+whp Fast Intentions TT kit in it.

Didnt reckon much of an upgrade from the z33 but, the way things are degrading, the 370 is probably one of the last JDM RWD's with a manual and a real handbrake.....*sigh*

Especially so since most probably the the new Z35 might be in the same regulations dilemma as the A90.

A discrepancies maybe?:

The article states, "By comparison, the outgoing 370Z has a turbocharged 3.7-litre V6 powerplant that delivers 323bhp and 268lb ft." The current 370Z is 330hp NA.

I'm a big fan of Nissan (if you haven't already noticed)....and I sort of figured they would come back with a TT Z...it was just a matter of time. My cousins in Australia have told me about the Nissan 3.0 VQ TT motors out there...they have taken them apart and boy are they built like tanks. When the Z comes out with a TT motor and retain the 6spd.....it will sell very well!
