I mean I get their frustration, unfortunately Toyota has destroyed all the molds, panels, etc having to do with the Supra. The more i look at this car the more upset I get they didn't pull out all the tricks with it. Hell, Toyota made the LFA to prove to the world what they can do,yet we can't even get trickle down tech from that car for their supposed "HALO" car. What's done is done and I'm hopeful that they'll release a complete in house sports car down the road. For gods sake they made a commercial with two Camry's racing through Monaco... WTF

With the A90’s competitive pricing right now, and partnership with BMW, I think the pricing would be handled totally different; and will not able to follow A80’s huge price tag reduction in the latter years of the model’s life just to dispose the remaining units. I see the price going up only. Toyota will put in new features, as well as have regularly updates, to keep the price up.

I wonder how would Toyota improve the A90 aside from the aesthetic bits...

Toyota's halo car is the LC-F, not the Supra.

Supra - Cayman range
LC-F - Upper 911 (Porsche 911 GT3/GT2 or AMG GT-R)
I've been saying this for awhile now

Passionate F1 fan and not one mention of Hamilton?! C'mon man!! haha I knew I would this would get your attention. I agree Schumacher was very successful and helped evolve F1.

Also, Senna (and he was a huge safety advocate ) and Ratzenberger's death were catalysts for F1 to help improve safety and track changes; crash barriers, Hans, pit lane speed, crash testing, brake away suspension etc.

"We need the cars to go 4-5 seconds quicker -- that is the most important thing," he suggests.
"Drivers today work hard, they have to drive on the limit -- but when they stand on the podium, they are sweating very little I would say.
"To drive these cars today it's easier. This is what we have to do: make it more attractive, make it more difficult."

-Lauda

If it wasn't for the A80, the A90 wouldn't be half of what it is today. Would it perform better then an A80, possibly.

Do you remember when Valentino Rossi "stunned" Schumacher after several laps in his Ferrari and Rossi never drove a F1 before in his racing career. Schumacher also tried to give MotoGP a crack.

MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi left Michael Schumacher "stunned" by his lap times during his first Formula 1 test for Ferrari in 2004, according to a former engineer who worked with both drivers that day.

Nine-time world champion Rossi flirted with a move to F1 on a number of occasions, with his maiden test for Ferrari coming at Fiorano in 2004 when both he and Schumacher were at the height of their powers.

Rossi was given the chance to sample the Ferrari F2004 car around the Italian manufacturer's private track with suport from engineer Luigi Mazzola, who remembered the test on his Facebook page.

"I do not remember exactly how many tests we did with Valentino Rossi at Ferrari, certainly at least seven," Mazzola wrote.

"At the first, Valentino went on the track and did about 10 laps - and on the last, it was an incredible time.

"I remember that Michael Schumacher, who was with me looking at the telemetry, had a stunned looked, almost incredulous."
Those were the days. Everything was timeless. But boy do I love this current generation as well.

Absolutely, I miss hearing those V12's sing. Racing is very taxing both physically and mentally. I used to race motorcycles and that was at a privateer level. Schumacher did was what other professional athletes and trainers started doing in the 90's; incorporating the science of health and training.

I grew up watching professional sports where racers, athletes and coaches would be smoking cigarettes. Marlboro, Camel and Lucky Strike sponsorships were all over the place. Those athletes who took their professional career very serious, Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, Kelly Slater, Michael Schumacher, Valentino Rossi etc exposed the weakness of those who didn't.

There were other major factors that lead to the A80's price reduction that would not happen now. This also lead to the extinction of the other Japanese halo cars in the late 90's. Even in '96 and '97 where the prices were the highest, there weren't any 6 speed turbos sold in the U.S, only automatic.

In the current market, if we look at how the FR-S/86 sales were during it's life cycle, depending on what updates and how much price increase it will have, there could be a tradeoff; both positive and negative depending on how you view it. I used this as comparison because these might be the main targeted buyer group. The A90 has not been accepted with open arms so that could also impact sales.

I was thinking about all the negativity surrounding the design of the MKV. When looking back at all of the previous generations, the natural progression of design was gradual until the MKIV which totally deviated from the norm of the "Supra"-esque look which seemed quite similar amongst the first 3 generations. With myself being a huge fan of the MKIV, I feel that many today associate the Supra only with the 4th gen and forget that 3 cornerstone generations existed before it (not to mention the 2000GT)...I forget at times. Toyota had to remember this in the design of the MKV, and I believe they did a good job in capturing varied aspects along the generations to assist in the evolution of the car as a whole rather than a spawn of the 4th gen Supra alone!
And fake vents...it's already been said that these can be functional with the necessary mods...who's to say these won't be functional in the GRMN model.
People need to just let this car do its thing and relax!...at least let it be seen and properly driven before raising pitchforks and torches!

Regarding the Fake Vents, we all know that Tada-San mentioned that they were functional. However if you look closely at the Production Supra in some areas like the side and rear panels. In order to make the Vents functional you will need to cut through the sheet metal of the car. I was looking at the Gazoo Racing Supra and noticed in the pictures that the vents appear to be fake on that vehicle as well. It appears that Tada-San was disconnected from the actual design of the car and may not be aware of the issues mentioned.
