I had the HP+ pads on my GTI thinking the same thing. After bedding on the street and driving around, seemed great. After one track day, it was squeal city. Swapped them out as soon as I could. My GTI has the performance pack brakes (larger Golf R brakes), stoptech slotted rotors, and RBF600 fluid.I’m glad you said this because I keep having an inner debate that maybe I should just get the HP+ Instead of the HPS 5.0, and maybe they won’t be too annoying on the street.
you have the HP+ on the Supra? How do you like the performance?
That was my first HPDE, so I’m sure I wasn’t driving as hard as more experienced drivers, but the brake feel was firm, progressive, and had no signs of fade during the day with a warm up session, 4 25-min normal sessions, and a happy hour session that I ran until I was too low on gas. Basically, I didn’t have to think/worry about the brakes which was my goal.
I’m confident in Hawk’s pads for the price/performance ratio at my skill level, but I’m not confident they will be quiet.
I haven’t found a do-everything pad that’s not noisy after a real track day.
