I’m glad you said this because I keep having an inner debate that maybe I should just get the HP+ Instead of the HPS 5.0, and maybe they won’t be too annoying on the street.

you have the HP+ on the Supra? How do you like the performance?
I had the HP+ pads on my GTI thinking the same thing. After bedding on the street and driving around, seemed great. After one track day, it was squeal city. Swapped them out as soon as I could. My GTI has the performance pack brakes (larger Golf R brakes), stoptech slotted rotors, and RBF600 fluid.

That was my first HPDE, so I’m sure I wasn’t driving as hard as more experienced drivers, but the brake feel was firm, progressive, and had no signs of fade during the day with a warm up session, 4 25-min normal sessions, and a happy hour session that I ran until I was too low on gas. Basically, I didn’t have to think/worry about the brakes which was my goal.

I’m confident in Hawk’s pads for the price/performance ratio at my skill level, but I’m not confident they will be quiet.

I haven’t found a do-everything pad that’s not noisy after a real track day.

I don't have any experience with aftermarket pads on the Supra, but I have run HPS on my WRX and HP+ on my STi. On that platform, the HPS were basically like stock, maybe a little more aggressive but not much, and they were silent. Basically a decent OEM replacement with no real drawbacks.

The HP+ on the other hand were a noticeable change. Initial bite when cold was weak but manageable, they heated up pretty quickly (as in, within a few seconds of moderate braking), and once hot they grabbed very well. Lots of dust though, and very loud on the street. Just a ridiculously loud EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE every time I'd slowly brake while coming up to a light, like they were riding the wear bars.

I had HPS and HPS 5.0 on an Audi S4. The HPS were essentially stock but with less dust. The 5.0 didn't seem much better but were terrible when cold. Had a few puckery moments when driving in slush. They didn't grip well when cold.

I put Porterfield R4-S compound on my Audi and now on my Z4 (I'm an infiltrator) and love them. Much less dust than factory and no pucker. I've not tried their R4 compound for track days on either car.

Hmm you guys are making me rethink HPS 5.0. Maybe winmax W3s if I can find them, or spend $900 on CSG CPs….

I've got Endless MX72s + RF650 going on next week along with a boatload of handling components. I'll let you know how they feel after break-in later next week. I got them since the M2 folks and GTR folks gave it positive recommendations on their forums.

The brake pad set was in the ballpark of $600.

Cool thanks. Did you go PLUS or standard MX72s? I’ve read all good things on the Endless and CSGs in terms of performance. I’m down to these 3 choices for triple duty street, autox, track that won’t squeal like a pig on the street:

1. CSG CP. $850. Friction .43-.49u. Temps 50-700C
2. Endless MX72. $555. Friction .37-.47u. Temps 50-700C
3. Endless MX72 PLUS. $585. Friction .39-.47u. Temps 50-750

Got the standard MX72, not the Plus, from topendmotorsports.com

the CP spec ones? They seem to check all the boxes, except cost
my Zupra is 90% track. I have csg 21/11 combos. It is or has been so far unbeatable track wise

I have not tried the cp/street pads

If it’s a street car and you’re looking to reduce the factory brake dust… the hps pads are the hawk pad of choice.

Has anyone looked at the Ferodo 2500? I was trying to order some W3s but as I'm sure most of you are aware - sold out and can't find them anywhere but someone recommended looking for the 2500.

Not a Corvette.
Project Mu Club Racers are another option.

I ran them on my Evo many moons ago before I moved to Raybestos ST47/43 for track use, and almost forgot about them. I bought a set for my Supra that I have used for two track days now, unfortunately, both where wet and cold days so I wasn't beating the hell out of them yet but the couple sessions where it started drying up they seemed fine.

Not a ton of noise yet either. I have a set of CSG 21/11 pads ready to go on if the PMU's can't keep up on track. Plus of the PMU pads are the set is like half the price of the CSG pads.
