Hi team,

I'm looking at the Borla exhaust for my Australian a90 MT. The Borla site specifically mentioned auto trans on their site, so I contacted them and got the below response (TL;dr):

"We haven't test fit a manual car, so no guarantees it fits, they've got someone with a MT having issues but haven't determined if this is due to their install or differences with the actual car and fit."

They're happy to supply one and take it back if it indeed doesn't fit, however, I live very rural so the shipping and general muck around will be a pain.

Anyone had any experience with Borla on MT specifically, or in general know if the hangers, mounting points and underbody is identical between MT/AT?

Hey, I installed a pre-owned Borla Atak off of an AT on my US Spec MT last year. I did not note any differences and had no issues with install.

There is no difference. AT and MT have the same exhaust channels. Remark checked for me before I got my Remark exhaust installed.

That's a perfect and encouraging response. Thank you for this.

By the way, how does it sound? Do you like it? AU spec supras don't close valves but our stock exhausts are heavily muffled and the car is very quiet so I really don't know what I'm in for haha.

Thinking to by the CG valve controller so I can close it if need be.

I figured this surely had to be the case, but thank you for confirming. My comment to the Borla rep was that no other exhaust manufacturers seem to state their systems are AT or MT specific so assumed they're all the same underneath.

AT and MT are the same fitment for exhausts, haven't run into any issues.

Let us know if we can get you a price on the Borla.

I personally liked how it sounded. My only gripe was with the carbon fiber exhaust tips turning brown over time.
Here's a sound clip with an ActiveAutowerke downpipe + Borla Atak Exhaust.

I currently have an AWE Resonated Touring and I do miss how the Borla sounds, since you get more turbo noise out of it.

Thanks! Good to know on the sound, seeing as everyone seems to praise AWE as the best sounding exhaust out there. Though in Aus its a little less accessible.

I've read about the yellowing tips. That's my only real gripe now, but hopefully I can maintain it.

Think I'll go Borla! Thanks so much for helping.

I have a MT with the Borla (great choice it sounds amazing). The only minor fitment issue I ran into was I needed to pull out the wire a little for the exhaust valve solenoid since it was a little too short to connect. I highly doubt that is specific to the MT but just something to be aware of.

Thanks. Was this hard to do or is there extra length to just pull through?

I'm wanting to get the CG valve controller too just for more control over valve.

It was very simple, I think there were 1 or 2 little plastic brackets holding it in that you undo and just pull the wire out from the slot a little bit.

I have their system on my Golf-R and I would not buy another Borla for sure. Sounds fine, but fitment was pretty horrible and took a lot of work to make them look right. Up to this point the other pretty lame fit and finish (and cosmetic weld quality) was Milltek on another car to give you an idea how critical I am about fitment.

All others I've bought were made in Japan and fitment was perfect.
