Hello Community,
I have never posted on here but gained a lot of knowledge thanks to the community and wanted to share my experience with my supra.
Long Story Short:
I bought the car in March of last year with 69k miles. The car was randomly losing coolant and was unsure of what it was as there were no traces of coolant loss even with a pressure test. Several parts were replaced, including the water pump and water pump bracket. Thinking the issue was resolved, I went ahead and went catless and MHD stage 2 tune. Removing the cat made me realize there was smoke coming out of the exhaust, which made me think the PCV failed in the valve cover, so that was replaced. The smoke never went away, and coolant loss continued, which is when I then took it to a local specialist shop. They removed the turbo and were able to identify that the coolant was actively leaking from one of the ports. They determined that there was a crack in the cylinder head. I will be swapping the engine to make sure I dont get any more problems from this issue. The weirdest thing was that there was never any loss of power, overheating, or such other than rough start-ups in the morning and the increase in smoke coming out of the exhaust over time. From what I know, the crack is after the cylinders in the manifold area, which they said has coolant running through it. Not sure if this would be an issue for those with in the 6-port engine, as the head is designed differently.
Good Luck!
