So I think my battery is toast. It will not hold a charge.
I wanna do an upgraded battery, but don’t wanna spend 950 on an antigravity battery.

What other options do I have

I think since I’m doing an elaborate stereo. I might go better. Let me check around. Thank you

Ok. More questions.

Is it correct that I need to put a stock battery back in.

also. Is it correct that I cannot re-charge my battery

Bmw are the worst. Once you drain it completely it will never hold charge like before.

Wonderful. How about the programming part. If I get a non stock battery, can the dealer fix the issues

If you want flexibly you really need an independent BMW mechanic. Finding someone you trust goes a long way. I use a trickle charger on mine every now and then. Get the most out of your batteries that way :)

You can program a new battery yourself with BimmerLink.

BTW, if the battery discharges, and if you’d be able to recharge it, you’d have to reprogram it.

Really. What a nightmare. I have no clue how to use any of that stuff.

My key fob won’t even lock the car or anything. Insane

Coming from the Toyota side of this, if you came in with an aftermarket (i.e. incorrect) battery and want for me to reprogram, I'd tell you to buy the OE battery first or politely get out of my service department. Mostly because I'm not interested in it becoming my potential problem in the future, which it will be if I was the last one to touch it. The charging system on these vehicles is quite picky, and if you want the system reset with an aftermarket battery, you'll have to do it yourself or have an independent shop perform the service.

My $.02 anyways.

Also, yes, @jtsang25 is dead right. If you ever allow the battery die completely, it will never be the same and you're best off buying a new one at that point. Sucks to suck.

Thank you razor lab.

So I’m more confused now than when I started. Can someone tell me what is best to do. Should I just install a factory battery.
