Its a little smoother while still retaining the notchy feeling. Exactly what I wanted!

How did you end up attaching the boot? Staples?
I have the Alcantara boot. I was using an upholstery staple gun at first but didn't need to. I used fabric glue with no staples and it held on just fine. Been almost 2 years now. I've pulled off the boot several times to install other things and it's still stuck onto the plastic trim mold with no signs of peeling.

I used E6000 fabric glue.
