Hey lads

I hate that the accessory power takes 7 or 8 minutes to switch off.

Anyone know how to reduce the timer using Bimmercode?

I came across a random thread on a bmw forum, but I haven't tried it out. I took a photo of what was written (was on a work pc that I don't usually use).

Has anyone tried this or knows a fix?

I saw some people say they coded their cars so when the drivers door opens, accessories turn off. Ideally, that would be the goal for me (how all my other cars work).

There’s already an option in the iDrive to have (nearly) everything turn off when the last door opens (meaning if you have a passenger and the driver door is opened first it will turn off when the passenger door is opened).

This. It works perfectly. I know our manuals seem to be written by someone who took English as a second language but it is in there.

Thanks guys. Where is it in the settings?

I just went through the whole lot and didn't find anything. The cloest I got was turn car off when last door opens. This just turns the engine off and I had it already ticked.

I'm in Australia, so I hope the setting is available to us, otherwise I'll be back at square one and looking for bimmercode option :(

So you're saying that if you are alone in your car, with the engine running and you open the door, the engine turns off? I have that box checked and that is not even close to what it does for me here in the US. After putting the car in Park, and pushing the start/stop button to shut off the engine (as one does when parking a car), when the last door is opened, the initial shutdown of electronics happens (dash, climate, screen, radio, etc) rather than having to manually hold the power button or lock the car. But if my engine is running and I open the door, there is no shutdown at all. I do it all the time. Perhaps you have auto start/stop enabled and the engine is just turning off from that. I have that feature programmed so I don't have to disable it every time I start the car (see Bimmercode) I turned it off 3 years ago and have never turned it back on.

But I do think there may be a little confusion here. There are 2 stages of the car being "off". The setting in iDrive refers to the initial shutdown of the electronics. But there is still the 7 minute accessory run time after that before the car is fully "off". I think that's what you are trying to program. To eliminate that secondary 7 minute delay?

Ah yes - I didn't test it, I just went off the wording, switches car off. Assumed from there seems it was already ticked.

It's that 7 or 8 minutes that I want to get rid of. Hopefully someone has sorted this in bimmercode.

I think that's just an artifact of the BMW underpinnings. It will be interesting to see if it can be reduced and/or if there are any unintended side-effects to making the change.

I went through Bimmercode on the weekend. I couldn't find anything remotely close to the screenshot posted above.

Surely we have the 7 minute timer option... especially if another model has it.

Anyone at seen anything at all for direction or tried something/almost got it?

I also did a deep dive on the topic and came to the same thread that you found originally. I think you're just going to have to be the first person to try and see what happens

I had a good look over the weekend. I didn't want to play around with random lines, but nothing resembled the naming conventions from that post we both come across.

So I left it be :( I looked for a good 15-20 minutes too...
