Installed a few things that arrived today.
These are ZL1 Add-on Rockguards for the front and rear. I had similar ones from my previous car (Honda Civic Type R) and loved them. After switching to the RT660’s, I noticed a lot more rocks getting picked up and flung around while driving and wanted to protect the paint as best as possible (even if it only helps a little). Install was simple and straight forward, uses factory mounting points. Although, I did strip one of the rear mounting points (dummy me giving too many uggadoogas when it really just been a cute snug instead ), but it’s not too noticeable. I’ll have to find a slightly larger diameter self tapping screw to replace it eventually.
Next, I purchased the IND start/stop button (in blue). Came with the puddy that’s recommended to pull the button off without having to pry it off and scratching your interior. Took a couple tries as it was being stubborn, but got it off and the new button on nonetheless.
Last, I decided to pull the trigger on the XHP transmission tune through Visconti Tuning that a lot of people have recently been talking about. No you don’t need your ECU unlocked for this as these are two different flashes. If will also flash your factory tune so if you want to just switch back to that, you can easily. The “kit” came with the dongle (in this case was a MHD one but there are others you can use) along with an email including the activation code to unlock the TCU and map packs. After downloading the app, making an account, and following the step-by-step instructions, it took about 10 minutes altogether to flash the car. I opted to flash the Stage 3 tune but left the customizing alone because I don’t know what I’m doing when it comes to tuning and changing parameters (safely lol).
I have to say… this changed the way the car drives dramatically. Shifts are MUCH faster, and I didn’t think it could get anymore faster this being my first auto sports car. It feels aggressive but not too aggressive and completely got rid of the “lag” in the paddles and shifter itself which what was really my main concern from the factory. Don’t get me wrong, the car already shifted great from the factory but man… it just upshifts/downshifts the moment you want it to and makes driving the car that much better. I’m sure with time and more updates, it’ll just get better and better!
