Same for meI've been keeping a close eye on my consumption, and I've driven almost 5,000km's(3,000miles) since my oil change and I'm still full. The consumption has slowed down as the miles rack up. My car is sitting at 25,000kms (15,500miles). Someone else on this forum had the same scenario, after about 12,000miles the consumption just slowed to a snails pace.
Updated after 500 ish miles: Still seems pretty much the same for my 2023Update:
I have a 2023 and it started showing oil consumption issues @ 2250 miles after an oil change
I used Liquimoly Top Tec 4600 5W30
Not sure if this is 'normal' consumption or if this requires some investigation
This seems within spec. You’re engine is still settling in. Did you take a measurement once oil was changed with an OBD app? The level should be 97-98mm when full.Updated after 500 ish miles: Still seems pretty much the same for my 2023
Seems to be at the same oil level
I did not measure with OBD. I'm not worried about consumption for my car anymore. I just wanted to provide another data point for others to read up on.This seems within spec. It could also be that you started slightly less than a full top off.
Please keep in mind that you can burn 1/2 a quart before it goes below that top green line.

What has the dealer done through the process?Same oil issues, same update… Mine is a ‘21 bought new in Canada, now with just over 25,000km / 15,534m and many dealer oil changes after (and before) minimum warnings. Dealer has done all the changes, completely stock everything. The warranty process has been ongoing for well over a year with no solution yet, but I’m okay waiting just so long as there is one at the end of the day.
Today’s minimum warming came after only 1,246km / 774m since they last changed my oil. This cannot be good.
I'd ask about scored Cylinder walls and what are they planning to do about honing the cylinders walls so the rings break in correctly assuming there is no scoring.Update: my ‘21 goes in for new pistons and rings in a week after I got a low oil warning at only 774 miles after it being topped up. This follows about one and a half years of going through oil too quickly.
Putting my hands up here and admitting that I know close to nothing about engines, although I’ve been trying to do my homework. Is there anything I should be asking them about/for during the warranty work? I understand I should be concerned about scores cylinders or nah?
Thanks!
At only 774 miles, doesn’t that qualify for a new motor? I believe they only rebuild after 3500 miles from delivery.I'd ask about scored Cylinder walls and what are they planning to do about honing the cylinders walls so the rings break in correctly assuming there is no scoring.
I have no idea that's up to toyota. If there is scoring then I'd fight for a new engine. At only 774 miles, doesn’t that qualify for a new motor? I believe they only rebuild after 3500 miles from delivery.
What state are you in? In many states, it’s almost guaranteed you get a new motor for such low mileage and a need for a tear down.I have no idea that's up to toyota. If there is scoring then I'd fight for a new engine.
