Has anyone tried connecting the iPhone by a cable to the USB port near the charging pad? Not even sure that provides a wired CarPlay experience in normal working conditions. I have not yet -- will do so when I walk back downstairs. Not an acceptable solve in my opinion - more just curious if that will even work.

This is not cool. I am in the market for a Supra and def will reconsider if carplay is gone. Perhaps when I go to check it out in person I will test if carplay works and if it is gone I will pull the "if there is no carplay I will not purchase". I am sure this will get dealers to jump on this asap to address.
You could single handedly save us all!
thx

Please call Toyota 1(800)331-4331. I called today and they claim to know nothing. No complaints or issues known. They referred me to the Dealer and I know the dealer will know nothing. Mine went out 2 days ago. There seems to be a bunch of us yet Toyota claims they know nothing
Yeah I called my dealership and they knew nothing about it they said for me to try plugging it in and using the USB port/cord and I said no it automatically connects when you crank the car up the phone donā€™t have to be plugged in and itā€™s gone so they were totally unaware of the problem Iā€™m taking mine in for oil change Monday so they added that to their list to look at

If Iā€™m understanding what you did, this used to happen to me about once every two weeks- It would switch over to Supra Connect for some reason and I would have to go back and switch it. But this is different. On my car, I donā€™t see CarPlay or Supra Connect. Itā€™s just gone.

Iā€™m thinking you never actually lost CarPlay (probably got stuck on Supra Connect). This was one of the first things I tried and it did nothing for me.

Ok, heres "my" experience/side of story.
I know ever since i got my car last June, the CarPlay had been a little finicky, sometimes it would connect, sometimes it wouldnt. But as i was driving it today. it really didnt connect at all nor did it even show up on the menu screen or anything.

My phone (Iphone 11 Pro Max. running Beta IOS 14.3) never had a problem connecting before. and still has it registered.

As i parked for work i checked the settings and saw that the "Apple CarPlay" was still an option but when i tried to select it. a message saying that "Apple Carplay could not be activated" for some reasons i dont know for what..

then i tried restarting the car (not engine, but the boot up screen and everything) and when i tried to reconnect, "Apple CarPlay" option is completely GONE... I think this is what mostly everyone is experiencing?

This is exactly what happened to me, and lots of owners. The only difference is I was running IOS 14.2 (non-beta). Started a petition to get all affected users, will be sending this to Toyota when there are enough signed up. http://chng.it/78gWbXj7
