Should not cost more than $1200 (SoCal prices) to properly weld the holes closed and repaint the trunk, if you care enough.

I just traded in my 86, after removing the Varis kit & wing, into a Toyota dealership. They did not bat an eye at the many exposed holes left behind since the vehicle history was pristine.

If you donā€™t care what happens to the car, and youā€™re trading it in, I would just slap white vinyl over the holes and let the dealership deal with it once itā€™s in their possession.

@Marcellis @PearlSup

Thanks for your input. I'll look into this. I'm looking to trade in anyway, so I'll check and see what their thoughts are.

Update to this fiasco. Found a replacement hatch and swapping it over. It's not too bad overall but lots of work. Had to remove a lot of the interior trunk, seats, and headline.

Should be done by end of this week.

Do you mind posting a write up or linking to any materials you used for the process? Iā€™m swapping my hatch within a month as well. Cheers!

It's been said already but 90% of the wrecked Supras are front end -- get it together kids -- meaning you can get a used hatch w/glass for cheep cheep cheep. There are probably 10 to choose from at any given time. I looked into this option for my RB A91 so I would not need to repaint but only two have come up in the color so far. Regardless I got quotes last year for $1300 shipped w/glass. So NO, don't go pay a body shop to do it.

I'll try to remember and write something up when i get the time. One big issue I've encountered was the GPS/Satellite attenas running into the trunk. I want to find a comprehensive solution for this before posting to avoid anyone splicing wires.

Lowkey interested in that drilled hatch so I can do my own wing and keep the oem, but my responsible side is yelling out

Where are you guys buying the replacement hatches from and about how much are they going for?

I was curious if we could just buy a new trunk lid from Toyota, just the plastic lid that gets painted or if we must get a whole new

If you could source a used one from a totalled car probably cheaper than getting all wiring and stuff done. On a blank hatch.
