Those pieces aren't painted. Just bare plastic. Material from the curb is probably making it look so light. If sanding/polishing doesn't make it look satisfactory the part itself isn't super expensive.
Gotcha so painting with a paint made for plastic wouldn’t be worth it? I figured it was just bare plastic but also figured I could at least touch it up at least a little
I would think it'd look pretty rough with touch up paint if you didn't first smooth out the surface. I'd try that first and see what it looks like.
For something that small, I would just stand my super sharp cutting knife blade perpendicular to the rough spot and pull the blade towards me to remove some of the rough plastic. Then just touch it up with matte or satin black enamel paint.

I'll say it again, I literally bought all three of these the day I got my car. Took one good look at the nose and was like "yeah, no, those aren't gonna stay perfect more than a year." Having used two of them over the years, I replenished my stock and have the trio in my garage loft right now. They're laughably easy to swap out too, with the corner pieces taking less than a minute.
