Downpipe slip on clamp welded??

So I decided to install my catless downpipe today, got everything off smoothly except the clamp the connects the bottom of the downpipe to the exhaust. I was working on it forever and it would not come loose no matter what and wouldn’t free itself, then I realize it looks like someone welded the clamp or it melted itself and welded itself to the exhaust?? I know the pictures arnt the clearest but I want to make sure I’m not going insane

The clamp is welded to the exhaust on all Supras.

I would tighten the v-band on the downpipe to the turbo side then loosen the clamp nut and the support nut holding the mid-section of the exhaust. Once you do that, use your legs to press/kick against the support bracket towards the muffler side until it comes off the downpipe.

Maybe It would help if you drove the car around for 15-30 minutes to heat the exhaust to see if it helps with the removal.

The clamp is welded to the pipe, but the exhaust mid-pipe uses a slip fit onto the downpipe. It is not welded. Get a dead blow hammer. Pull harder. Use twisting. Use more force. It's gonna be stuck on there pretty good until you get the slightest bit of movement, at which point it'll pop loose easily.

Ok thanks guys. I was just confused because when I loosened the nut for the clamp it didn’t even “stretch out” like it was loosening, just stayed in one place because I’m the videos they loosen the clamp, i see it start to expand out like it’s loosening and they move the clamp freely. So all I need to do pretty much is more brute force?

Unbolt the catback at that silver thing and it will make it way easier to "pull" the DP out of the catback. Be careful because it will feel stuck and at some point will just pop out so don't smash your hand like I may or may not have done.

Yeah I figured, I had everything off , the turbo v band, the two nuts for the downpipe bracket, the clamp bolt and the nut that holds up the exhaust, it just wouldn't slip out of the damn exhaust even with a rubber mallet banging on it and half a bottle of wd40 . I guess I'll try again today. I have a feeling though my clamp is way stuck on there then it should be though, like there is no movement in the clamp at all

You need to remove the clamp nut and pull open the clamp. You will see a slot on the exhaust side. Use a big flathead screwdriver to open the slot and release the downpipe.

If your clamp won't expand, you may need to beat a flathead as a wedge to unstick. Also, I had a hell of a time trying to get the new downpipe to slide in. If it's not aligned just right, it simply won't start.

Yup. I didn't loosen the V band and the 2 nuts for the downpipe support bracket until I got the catback off the OEM downpipe when I installed my aftermarket downpipe.

You need to remove the clamp nut and pull open the clamp. You will see a slot on the exhaust side. Use a big flathead screwdriver to open the slot and release the downpipe.

I actually sprayed some wd40 in that hole and stuck a flathead in that hole and snapped the tip when trying to pry it open….. Maybe just need to keep on doing it more and more with more flatheads?

lol, hate to say this but it sounds like you pushed the tab tighter against the Downpipe. You may have to come from either side and try to get it to flatten it so it’s not pressing against the Downpipe.
I left my Downpipe attached, undid the exhaust and twisted/pulled and it (as @razorlab said) popped out suddenly.
