Question, will this affect any cars that are tuned prior to this update?

Well this makes me regret going with ECUTEK, although it's not their fault. They have to do this to stay in business.

I'm still on the factory downpipe with my ECUTEK tune, but part of the reason I bought a 2020 was to be able to upgrade the turbo and defeat associated CELs.

Can I run a Pure800 on a catted dp without a CEL? I'm thinking no.
Are you already running this setup? If so, ECUTEK could go out of business and your car would run tomorrow the same way it is today.

If not (and coming from someone else in a 2020), I'd say wait to see how this shakes out. There may be a workaround for your concerns. If not, being in a 2020 makes the switch to your new tuning platform of choice a breeze compared to those who have to go through more complicated methods.

Given that this is an industry-wide issue, and not just an Ecutek issue, I don't think that's the worst place to be in. We should point fingers at the real cause, however, and not a specific tuning company.

Question, will this affect any cars that are tuned prior to this update?
I don't see any reason why it would if you're not actively updating the software on your ECU.

Having come from the 86 world where this was already in the works...If you're tuned prior to the change and have no need to reflash / do a new tune...you will be fine.

Archive an older Ecutek app on your laptop if you want to though. Just in case.

^^^^ So if you already have an Ecutek
Tune with the catless. You should be fine?
I'm going to bet "yes" with the catch that you implementing any future Ecutek updates or tunes will subject you to whatever differences there are on the current Ecutek version.

Doubt it. If things were backtracked all the time, there'd not be 70s cars on the road today...
If you were to get it tuned again, then it'd be a different story..

Yes you can. You will get a code for the crankcase ventilation delete but I don't think that triggers a CEL.
GESI Cat? Will it hold up on track?

You're absolutely right. Time will tell how this really shakes out.

I don't want to upgrade my turbo anytime soon, I just wanted the option to down the road in a year or two. The 93 custom dyno tune Mikey Botti did on my car with the completely stock engine/exhaust is plenty of power for now.

Couldn't tuners just not update the software on their computer and send calibration files that way? I'm not sure how the tuners side works for the software.

I know one or two that do..under the table. If the masses (and the EPA) found out...fees/lawsuits would likely follow for bypassing EPA/CARB.

Not a Corvette.

As a tuner in my previous life, that is a sure fire way to get a nice letter from the EPA.

I just said this four messages ago. Did changing my avatar throw people for a loop?

This will be -fine- I promise. And trust me, MHD/BM3/MG1, etc are all going to have the same problem.

But. This. Will Be. Fine.

I knew I shouldn't have changed the fucking avatar.

Honestly, the avatar is confusing me. I just don’t know if we’ll ever adapt.

People aren't used to seeing a car that runs.
