The new engine already arrived, damn that was really fast :)
It was ordered yesterday afternoon, arrived this morning.

If somebody want to know the price that I paid: around 7000 euro excluding taxes (Belgium has 21% taxes)

What was ordered (inlcuding part number):
* Long block B58 supra (19000-WAA02)
* Gasket intake B58 supra (17177-WAA01)
* Gasket turbo cyl head (17173-WAA02)
Glad you received your engine quickly, this will help you get on the road very soon.

Yes, I hope to be back on the road by the end of next week latest (if nothing comes in between)

Not a lot, spikes till1.6 bar. And in the higher RPM range the ECU is restricting it currently to 1.2 bar
It occured during normal driving, so the boost was very low.

Also two other BMW engines (one B58 and one B48) since last month confirmed having the same problem with lost compression. Belgian BMW tuner, that developed my turbo for the Supra (those engine blocks also still need to be opened up)

They may already found what caused it, but have to be 100% sure. Can only be told when they open all the engine blocks, to see if its the same problem/cause. I am not going to get everyone panicking yet :)
Wait are you saying that two other engines that were tuned by the same tuner blew up?

No not the same tuner. All tuners are different, each doing their own tuning and with different tools.

To summarize:
  • My tuner has my B58 with cyliner 1 without compression
  • BMW tuner has a B58 with cyliner 3 & 4 without compression
  • BMW tuner has a B48 with one cyliner without compression
  • Tuner in UK has a B58 with one cyliner without compression

Investigation is going on. As said before, I am not going to get people worry here (yet).
Just it seems I am not the only one in Europe with problems related to 'having no compression'.
Currently the reason is yet unknown, but they are already 'walking a certain path'.

Again, not finger pointing at this moment.

I am surprised at the price of the engine tbh. Thought it would be way more expensive than €7k.

Cheapest engine where you can by default... have 500HP (at the engine).
Comes full packaged, only the turbo itself is missing. But oilpan and everything else is included.

Yes 7K excluding taxes. So with the taxes of Belgium included: 8470 euro.
But still, a 'cheap' engine :)

Small update: Yesterday, an engineer from Toyota Europe called in order for the case that was opened.
They want to have as much data, diagnostics and pictures while dismanteling the engine. To check where which damage has occured.
Toyota Europe also wants to read out the entire ECU and GPS... off course to check if the car is not a 'trackday special'.

Because development team and engineering of Toyota Europe is now involved, could be that it will take a little longer to replace my engine.

Also the case from another Supra has been provided (that one is burning oil and has oil pressure problems -> car has 13000km on the odo).

I will keep everyone update in case I got further news on this matter.

Well it seems that my engine also has way to low oilpressure (just as the other car with 13000km)

Mine is at 2.3-2.5bar on a cold engine.
While even on a hot engine, it should still be at 2.8-3.2bar.

Report will be send to Toyota and to be continued.

But I would recommend people to read out how much oil pressure their Supra has in case they already has couple K milage on them.
Last thing you want is to have the same problems :)

Very interesting, I guess with such thin oil the pressure is even more important

Excuse the silly question, how do you measure it ?

It is actually the oil recommended by Toyota. So either it is a mistake in the oilpump, or it is the oil itself.
The oil that is on, has been told during toyota training it would last for 30000km. But Gazoo racing (yes its their oil) says the 0W20 is only ok for 5000km. But Toyota Europe assumes it is 5000km on the tracks... so should be 10-15K on the roads. But again... not near the 30K.
As well, no 'oil light' comes on my dash... we will see which next steps Toyota will do.

We actually have read it out with the software of a Toyota dealer (they can run a diagnostics).
So that is an official report.

Thanks guys

Ps: new engine that Was picked up today... parts broken off during transport. Entire block was fixed with just one strap :wtf: . So tomorrow we need to inform toyota and ask what they are going to do about it. We were so ready to put in it tomorrow (old engine is already out).

And some pictures.

This is how it looked when the box was opened.... engine no longer strapped in, just laying on its side:

And some pictures of the damage:

The engine itself was not further put out of the box, who knows what else is damaged (note: a lot of palstic on this engine).
Not satisfied with the way BMW/toyota is taking care of shipping those engines.

I’ll check on the Ecutek app tomorrow for you mate RE oil pressure.

That is such bad luck on the engine shipment. Hopefully they can sort it quickly!

Suprising how much plastic there is right? I changed out the intake and boost pipes for hardline aluminium when I got my car tuned for that reason.
