To be fair, they have stopped making M versions of the Z4 so we all knew it wasnt going to have an S58. So even if Toyota was allowed to put the S58 in the supra, it still wouldnt be in the Z4 because BMW doesn't have a market for a Z4 M
Yes it's on a convertible with a series m it's no longer interesting.
Good frankly the M8 resembles strangely on the supra and with a V8 better than supra for US market...

We know we're not talking about the supra GR but the supra GRMN for S58.

It just removes the Catalytic Filter
I believe the grmn will have the same engine, maybe with more power but the car will focus on low weight and suspension

Specs of the new 3 series have been released with having 382hp and 369 lb-ft of torque so it is identical to the Z4 engine.
With that being said, 0-60 on the M340i is 4.2s. I do not have a weight for the M340i but I do have one of the 330i (4cyl) at 3,582lbs.

3.99s 0-60 is definitely possible for MK5 assuming it sheds 300-400lbs and has the same motor as the Z4 and M340i.

They crammed a ton of nonsense into the car IMO, so I'm interested to see what it does in production format.

Do you know if this nonsense you speak of was present on the prototype test vehicles in Spain?

Yep, those cars are damn close to what will be delivered next year and they have to test everything to ensure it all works, so they have been that way for a while. They have added a few things and changed some things as expected, but otherwise it's been in it's near final form for some time.

Wow 0-60 at 4.2 is impressive for the new 3 series.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but seeing BMW use that engine (B58) in multiple vehicles makes me believe it would be possible in the far future to "upgrade" (Engine swap) to an M engine like an S58 or even a V8 with minor modification. At least it would be easier and might reuse parts compared to a 2JZ swap or something similar that would require extensive work.

Strange that the Z4 does 0-60 in 4.4, but the M340i hits it in 4.2? From what we have speculated so far, the Z4 should be lighter too. What am I missing here?

AWD? If that's true the Z4/Supra should do sub 4 seconds with better tires.

Ohhh, I wasn’t aware it’s AWD.

I believe it’s been confirmed that the Z4 hits 0-60 in 4.4.
I'm not sure the M340i is AWD, the articles I found aren't clear about that, however the 330i definitely is.
