Soooo, I was just wondering why the headlights go down and up when I turn them on.?

I was wondering the same thing. I would assume the headlights move as you turn but I tried looking at the lights while turning the wheel and it didn’t seem to move.

I was wondering the same thing. I would assume the headlights move as you turn but I tried looking at the lights while turning the wheel and it didn’t seem to move.
Yeah, they don't do that, but when they go on it does down up motion, then stops.

I believe the initial sequence would be calibration, to zero the position. Much like the printer heads...

They move up and down as you drive. I've see this mostly when I'm coming to a stop a red lights, I see up and down movement on the car in front of me. My guess is for preventing blinding others under heavy acceleration of bumps.

They are auto leveling headlights like in some other Toyota and Lexus products they adjust while driving to always make sure the road is illuminated on elevation changes like inclines or declines. My mom's Lexus NX F Sport does the same thing when it turns on it's probably just calibrating the system on startup.

I believe you are correct! My other cars with adaptive headlights do this too.

There is no reference about this in the manual.
Woohoo, found it on original window standard equipment sticker. It's stated in safety. 6-Lens Auto-Leveling LED Headlights.
