With dealers not knowing if they're even getting any allocation, I think it's totally fine to offer refundable and have a list. If A passes, B buys, refund A... Clearly indicating to customer where they're at on the list. After all, are dealers special ordering Supra's and afraid they can't sell. for sure in some areas, some dealers can't/won't especially small ones but no excuse for high volume dealers.
this is definitely a question I will ask the dealer Saturday.

is there a line/queue for this vehicle and if so how many people are ahead of me.

Toyota dealerships can’t just they want X amount of Supra, RAV4, Tacoma ETC…TMC sends allocations based on the dealership’s sales performance. High volume stores can request to get what they want and will likely get MOST of it, but if it’s not that great of a store, they pretty much get what TMC gives them…also the MKV is made in Austria, it takes a SOLID 6 months from start to landed at port MINIMUM. If it gets plucked for inspection, put on your patience hat…

Exactly my point. For Low volume, then why would they not accept refundable down payments if they're already being allocated whether an immediate customer wants it or not.
If case of High volume, they should be able to sell if they're already high vol. And there isn't that many trims/packages out there to warranty an oopsie we special ordered this for you. Eh, maybe MT, but then they can't make enough of those..

The amount of people waiting for MT that took more than 6 months is way more then the lucky ones that took a couple months. Some are still waiting from last year.
I just got mine 2 months ago and put my deposit down in the summer of 2022. Be careful, a lot of dealerships making fake promises because they don’t know what they are going to get when it comes to the Supra. I would say I got lucky and got everything I wanted, but be aware prices have gone up already this year and there will be an increase for 2024. Good luck and I hope you get what you are going after.

My dealership told me 4 to 6 months wait time for what I ordered. Then, after 1st month, they asked there is an allocation for another color if I want. I accepted it. Now it is going to be 3 months since the allocation, they delayed 2 weeks to the first week of July. They provided VIN for the vehicle almost a month ago. It is frustrating.
Try to find dealerships with a refundable deposit and make multiple dealerships deposits. Best way of getting your supra. Waiting 6 months and getting your non refundable deposit back won’t make you happy all that wait!

Hi OP, another user on this forum shared this link which has a running list of updated allocations - so u know who is actually getting product. Not to dissuade u from doing a factory order, but could get what u want with less wait time and hassle.

I would observe the car sales sources in your area for 2-3 months before making a decision, like autotrader, FB marketplace etc. I'm in Vancouver, and so many people are backing out of their Supra orders here, 4 brand new MT (strat, red, yellow, black) units made their way FB marketplace alone all within past 7 weeks (all different dealers within 50km radius), only one had $10k of forced add-ons, other 3 were MSRP deals. Another one (white) popped up in local autocross whatsapp group at MSRP a few days ago. People are getting bad trade-in offers and interest rates, variable mortage rates some buyers are on also killed off their purchase, hence not selling. I would much rather just hunt for the right one than to line up at dealers. Ofc this depends on how your area is.

Toyota dealers can’t order anything. They’re allocated by dealer and customer preference. If the dealer doesn’t have one that’s already allocated, then you may be waiting a while before you get the color/trim you want.

good to know. I hate Facebook, but May have to use it for their marketplace.Time is on my side as I’m really in no rush. I’d love to have it by the end of the year, but won’t be upset if it’s not in my garage. I just want a fair (MSRP) price.

how much of this can I have taken off? Prep fee and platinum package 3.0 seem sketchy.
