I've noticed that if I use the door switch to open the hatch (boot lid) and then close the door, it re-latches. If I leave the driver's door open, I can still open the hatch. I assume that closing the driver's door is creating enough pressure to force the hatch up and back down, but wanted to check in to see if others are encountering the same and if this is normal.

I believe there is an option in the settings that will turn the locks on if the driver door is closed and no one is sitting in the vehicle, so it might be that?

Yes happens to me too. Its the air pressure lifting tailgate when closing door & then it relatches when it drops. It is annoying for sure.

I have this issue as well. I think the rear hatch lock is sensitive so if I close the driver/passenger door the hatch moves and re-latches and I have to press the unlock trunk button again.

Thanks for all the replies. I couldn't find any settings for the door locks that seemed to impact this. It's good to know it isn't just me. It looks like the rubber knobs the hatch rests on might have some adjustment to them. I'm going to see if they have any effect.

Good deal, i'll have to look into adjusting those knobs myself.

There is no setting on the locks that affect the trunk. I think the previous poster of that suggestion meant the unlock/locking of the driver/passenger door settings?

I have this same thing. Just had it happen for the first time yesterday. It made me laugh and then angry at whatever person decided not to put a button to open the trunk on the outside of the car.

I'm not even sure why this bothers me. I guess I would have expected a hands-free trunk release given all the other features this car has.

Not enough to make any real difference. I've just gotten used to opening the hatch prior to closing the driver's side door so that it doesn't re-latch.

there are few ways to resolve.. one, close the door slower.. much slower. or close door /w window open.

I keep seeing this come up, here and on one of the Facebook groups.

This behaviour is because the action of closing the passenger door(s) causes a gust of air through the car which moves the boot lid when it’s unlatched. The same would happen in our Cayman. It’s not a fault, it’s not bad engineering, it’s unavoidable pressure changes.

The solution is to close the door gently, or just pop the boot after closing the door.

Hmm, pressure relief flaps/air extractor are rather common towards the trunk... If it's not working on Supra, it could be bad engineering...

This worked great for me and fixed the problem....Mine were pretty much bottomed out and I don't think they were adjusted from the factory....I didn't really need to adjust too much for this to work well!
