Exactly, right now I'm looking at 996TT's to hold me over.

I think that's where I'm gonna end up with this. At any price point they put this at there's gonna be a 911 I'd rather have. Just depends on if I feel like it's a better idea to get a new car than a used one..... and if there's a manual. If the price is over 60k I'd be tempted to look at 911s that are a few years old. That's just my opinion though.
You and me both. A co-worker has a 997TT, and has given me a plethora of info on the platform. Late model 996TT's and I believe all 997TT's had the venerable "Mezger" engine...capable of over 1000HP on stock bottom-end. However, for me any 911TT will surely be a used car purchase.Exactly, right now I'm looking at 996TT's to hold me over.
Don't get me wrong the 996 is a great car! I had a friend with a 996 GT2 that was pushing over 1000whp and man was that quick! The tunability on those cars is quite impressive.
I think they are endearing
IMS is not apparent on the turbo cars from what I'm told....however, the 996's did suffer from coolant leaks (TSB took care of most cases). It was the later 996.2's and 997's that had the sought after motors. I never considered a 911 until I went to lunch with my co-worker, and he got on it. It's fast!!! Like, really really fast for a 2009!!the 996 is cancer IMO, but I like the 997 (preferably the 997.2).
between that hideous front end and the IMS bearing, I wouldn't be caught in a 996 lol.
I keep seeing them in yellow, same goes for the the 997(but in black)
