I *almost* daily mine. Depending on the terrain of where I'm headed, rainy seasons (which is only a few months in San Diego), or if I need to take my dog/others with me, I'll drive my RAV4. Cargo space is more than enough for me for the Supra.

In my 1-year experience, it's been fine driving nearly every day. The visibility really isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but I guess I'm biased since I used to own a 5th Gen SS.

Comfort is fine for a low sports car, I can't really complain about it since I knew what I was getting into. However, if the terrain is terrible, do take more caution or just avoid it entirely.

It is a pain in the ass in some parking spots.

Consumables will, of course, be more expensive especially tires.

And I think someone mentioned this, but the doors are HUGE and the hinge only has two detents - the first one is so narrow it's completely unusable and the second one is so wide it will bash the door of the car parked next to you.

I think folks here hit all the other points. It's a brilliant second car though.
I think you’re mistaken. My 22 has 3 door positions: barely open, medium (just right), and the wide open you mention.

Sorry, I meant there are two detents between closed and fully open. But even that middle one is too wide - open it to that position and measure from where the edge of the door would touch a wall, to the side skirt of your car. It's 35 inches - where I live the spaces give you like 15 inches at most.

Best sports car for daily driving I have had but that’s why I think it’s flawed as a sports car. Too comfy, low exhaust sound, soft suspension, power band focus too much on low end power instead of rewarding rev….etc, the driving experience doesn’t match the look of the car. I have coilovers and exhaust on the car to right the wrongs and now it’s how it should have been, sound is orgasmic in low revs, corners with minimal bodyroll even on 71RS.

Last rainy season, I did get caught in the rain a few times with my Supra. It is perfectly fine as long as you limit aggressive acceleration. And since my MX5 has a cold air intake with filter just behind the grill, I try to limit taking it when it is raining.

If the rain is light I'm okay with driving the Supra. If there are flash flood reports then I leave the Supra at home. All depends on the severity.

Yes, flash floods tend to happen more often in February and March in Southern Cali.

It rains daily down here in SWFL (4-5 months out of the year) and the Supra drives great in it. Unless there is flooding/ hurricane. But that’s not the norm and shouldn’t be driving in those anyway ;)

My Supra is a shared daily between me and my wife, it's our only AT car, so it's her full time daily, we have a 4 door car as backup to when we have costco trips or when we are buying larger items.
2 seat is perfectly fine for us, in fact we prefer it now because we don't constantly have people asking rides from us anymore. When family visits, I use the 4 door. Supra itself, the only 2 downsides to being a daily is maybe the C pillar, but we have mostly mitigated it by swapping for Euro Z4 mirrors which allows us to see all of the immediate lane beside us. The other being, I do try really hard to find a good parking spot away from cars, and avoid parking under trees and lamp posts generally to avoid tree sap or bird droppings. It's a year round car that we slap winter tires on and also my track day car with second set of brakes and track tires, it does almost everything for us.

In short, it's a great daily for us because most of the time we only need 2 seats, and have a secondary vehicle for more space. We love seeing the beautiful car and having a fun driving experience everyday we drive it, it's at 13k km in just 9 months and we've not done any road trips longer than 400km yet, safe to say we use it well, and it's because we both love using it.

Answering your questions:
Looking to retire my long-term Acura daily driver and possibly replace it with a new Supra - looking for advice/suggestions based on the following:

1) Driven the same commute past 30 years, will be buying an AT as there is way too much clutching/stop-n-go traffic in parts of commute - 2 past stickshifts taught me that lesson. Commute is 50% city traffic, 50% highway/interstate.

- Similar use case to us, AT is perf

2) From a scale of 1-10 in aggressive driving, I'm probably a 7 - knowing this commute so well, I do take advantage of traffic and light patterns but not recklessly or a traffic weaver. I want a well-mannered car that is nimble/quick.
- My wife drives like a 1 in agressiveness, I'm a 3-7 depending on situation so the car has no problems handling that

3) Not looking to ever do mods or track it - I just want a dependable yet fun driving experience for 90 minutes a day. Refuse to buy a big truck/SUV like all my friends seem to do
- You'll be fine, but I doubt you won't mod it haha

4) Is it easy to maintain? - I've always done some of my own wrenching (oil and filter changes, brakes, tire rotations, tranny flushes etc).
- Quite easy for normal maintenance, tranny flush isn't required often so you could even pay someone to do that.

5) Test drove a MT 2024 Supra (locally no Ats are available) - seemed to be well mannered in limited driving, but I noticed a few blind spots - not enough time to vet out. Thoughts on comfort/ease of driving?
- Euro Z4 or aftermarket convex mirrors

6) Might occasionally take it on a 4-8 hour trip, any thoughts on long-drive comfort?
- No issues at all as long as you don't pack unnecessary things in the car, I do have a compact spare from a E63 Amg for roadtrips

7) Reliability - all opinions welcomed
8) Any other thoughts also welcomed- past 6 family vehicles purchased were Honda/Acura and Toyota has always been interesting to me in terms of quality/reliability (same as Honda). I know its got the BMW drivetrain which isn't Toyota quality obviously but it appears to have a decent reputation.

- Toyota quality is still generally pretty good except for the fiasco last year with the new turbo motors in the trucks, Supra is suprisingly reliable, perhaps one of the most reliable for being a less than 100k sports car even when regularly tracked, I think this is partially with Toyota picking the some of the older but more tried and trued BMW electronics and more durable physical switches, the B58 is BMW's saving grace. Of course there's always gonna be a few unlucky ones every so often but majority of us don't have any major issues. Your bigger concern would be finding a trustworthy dealer that work on supras, but you mentioned you work on it yourself mostly so it's less of an issue since you don't need to deal with them on a regular basis.

9) If I don't get a Supra, am looking at the Acura Integra (kinda small), the Acura TLX (Type S if I can find one), the Lexus IS 500 or RC (hate the Lexus front end aesthetic however). Would never give Nissan a dime (although I dig my friend's 350Z) - any other ideas would be appreciated also.
- I've driven lots of cars and especially the modern ones, I don't really think there's anything that really drives like a supra, such short wheelbase with turbo 6 power and beautiful styling, great fuel economy is an added benefit. But if I have to get a more practical daily (aka bigger trunk), I'd get an RCF or GR86MT, both have lots of character and enough amenities for daily use. GR86 is very fun but not the most comfortable over rough roads, RCF's engine is a masterpiece and it is very nice inside. Both are also great looking cars (Supra's prettier imo tho), the 2 extra seats are added benefits but not a requirement personally. Just a larger trunk is nice for me since I have a foldable shopping cart living in a condo and it doesn't fit in the Supra.

sorry for the long post :)
alright here is the answer you're looking for man.

I daily drove my supra for 2 years through all 4 Canadian seasons and have put over 72,000 kilometers on my 2022 AT supra so I'd consider myself pretty qualified to answer on this topic.
( IF )you can live your life without a need for a backseat the supra makes a fantastic daily driver. I drive over an hour a day in my car through a mix of highway, in town and everything else and used to regularly make a 2+ hour drive weekly and have done 8+ hour road trips a few times

if you get a premium supra with all the toys, like blind spot monitoring, parking sensors, adaptive cruise then there really is almost no better option as a "sports car" daily driver my car running on 94 octane completely stock will easily return 25mpg even with my far from conservative driving style and heavy foot.

where it really shines is on the highway most cars can get good fuel economy if you want to sit in the right lane going 60mph but will quickly fall off like a brick soon after (Acura integra being one of them) in my experience the supra will happily sit at 85mph and still pump out 30+mpg all day long! the adaptive cruise works extremely well if you want to sit back and make a mindless drive, or you can click two buttons and have an engaging experience at your fingertips if you want to ratchet up the excitement levels of your daily commute.

I've never had an issue with the size of the hatch back in the supra if will easily hold enough for two people to do almost anything. I've fit two golf bags or one golf bag and push cart, multiple suitcases duffle bags for week long road trips.

the supra has the most duality of any of those other cars, with everything turned off and the car in sport mode it's a real deal handful of a sports car. With everything turned on it can easily make your commute disappear with enough power to pass just about anything

I've driven both of the other cars you mentioned as alternatives and neither of them have the same ability to switch back and forth like the supra can. tlx feels heavy and sluggish when you push it hard it has a propensity to understeer and shows it's a commuter car at heart pretty quickly, and the integra (non type s) is just a Honda civic hatchback with a fancy interior that won't compare to the supra in any measurable other than interior space. (i owned one)

To sum all of that up, as I said in the beginning if you can live with a two-seater there really is no better option out there at supra's price point. it truly sits smack dab in the middle of the Ven diagram of price, practicality, performance and potential in the sports car market.

If my dumbass can drive in a monsoon with five day old track tires with zero rain channels and three jugs of E40 in the back, then you all are taking things WAYYYYY too cautiously. Or, I'm just a moron.

Yup you’re a moron ? Same shit happened to me just when I was feeling extra confident driving in the rain (on track) with my slippery track tires. I think I was arguing with you on another thread that it’s no big deal driving to and from the track on track tires, I do it all the time, blah blah blah. Then you sent that same monsoon my way, on my way home from the track. Damnnnnnnn it was NOT fun!!!!

However on the street with street tires, she’s mighty nice, rain or shine. I’d definitely use this car for daily commuting, if I had only one other people & stuff hauling vehicle.

I like chain smoking Menthols while hauling e85. Keeps the smell down.
Just trying to help with a tip.
