Figured I document the ISTA versions I've come across so far.
Please note there are versions before 4.34.41 and certainly versions I've missed.
There isn't much value here, other than maybe discovering where your car is and comparing to the latest versions.

I plan to update the table whenever a new version is released.
Until Toyota/BMW bows out with a final Toyota ISTA version...

Toyota ISTA:

BMW ISTEP version concatenation:
S18T-24-11-520
S18T = J29 Supra chassis designation
24 = 2024 (Year)
11 = November (Month)
520 = Newer versions will have bigger numbers if multiple are released on same month

Your warranty might be (probably is) void. I am not responsible for bricked Supras, dead DMEs/ECUs, thermonuclear war, or your Supra catching on fire because the ISTA update failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about updating your Supra before updating it! Do tell the dealership your Supra is out of date by referencing a completely trustworthy random internet forum post.

Be warned
BMW ISTA will auto-flag (tampered) your VIN/car if it detects a tune or overboost (piggyback).
Unsure if the Toyota version does it, there have been no reports (as of yet).
Google search (code S0777) says BMW ISTA started doing this around 2020.
Even flashing back to stock, the code is persisent.
It is also believed all modern BMWs have a flash counter as well.
Some cracked BMW ISTAs have this check disabled.

What does ISTA versions change?
All DMEs/ECUs onboard the car are affected through changes in calibrations, tuning, sensors, learning, software recalls & fixes, full-screen CarPlay, throttle hesitation, etc. The best part is, Toyota/BMW does not provide a changelog, so you tell me?

Newer Toyota ISTA v4.57.31.32356 supposedly dropped, anyone know if there's a new/final programming change for the Supra i-level?

Seems equivalent to BMW Ista+ 4.57.30, equivalent G29 i-level would be S18A-25-11-524.
Latest versions are:

ISTA: V4.57.31.32356 (Feb 9, 2026)
iSTEP: S18T-25-11-530 (Nov 2025)

This is such a load of bullshit. Car is no longer being produced after this year and they want $1500 per year for a subscription for diagnostic software? Fuck BMW and fuck Toyota.

I bit the bullet and bought a 2-day subscription for what I needed to get done. I was also bummed to learn that Toyota ISTA could not be used offline unless you have an active subscription to GTS+.

For those more adventurous than I, there's this potential source of an "alternative" version (I'm sure there are others) ...

Toyota Supra ISTA 4.39 Diagnostic Software – Professional Diagnostic Solution for ICOM, ICOM Next & ENET

If this actually works, you could potentially have an offline version although it would be an earlier version (v4.39). Try at your own risk. Terms and conditions apply. Consult your doctor before downloading software from questionable sources. Blah blah blah.

No need to be so dramatic. Nobody doing this as a hobby needs a full year subscription to it. I've used it twice and I have owned my Supra for 5 years now.

I assume as new owner of a 26 I could just call the dealer and ask to make an appointment for an update? My plan was to unlock the DME and get a tune this spring, so I should get this done beforehand.

I think it’s predatory to require a subscription for a piece of software required to be able to fix your car which you own outright. Especially when Toyota initially offered it for free. This also means that when your car is out of warranty it will be more difficult to find an independent shop to work on the car.

…is this for real? You must not have even a fundamental understanding of software development and your self entitlement is overwhelming. UNECE R155/R156 would blow your mind.

If anything, we are fortunate the barrier to entry to use ISTA is low; in contrast look into the hardware required to connect ODIS to a Volkswagen. All we need for the Supra is an inexpensive enet cable. I’m more worried about manufacturers continuing to allow the general public to acquire these tools than the minimal cost of licensing it once every few years.

ISTA has never (legitimately) been free. Any competent-BMW focused shop will be able to work on these cars.

None of this is actual reality.
