I wouldn’t recommend a JB4 without getting someone to tune it for you. I second ZRK, get a high flow catted downpipe.

Well, downpipe is a prereq for any reasonable power gain. You're not going to jam a JB4 on and see the gains you'd see if you had one. Or anything else. Sure it might snag you 10hp on it's own or something, but you need the exhaust to flow nicely if you're going to up the boost.

I talked to a tunner shop and he recommended tunning if I want to go dp route.

I'd definitely have Jesse do it. He knows JB4 and the Supra better than anyone. Not all shops are familiar with the JB4.

is not that bad at all

It's not! A downpipe may indeed give you that extra sound you want also also come with a nice power bump along with it. Before I went with a new cat-back system I was running an AA catted downpipe and the stock exhaust. Sounded great.

Yeah, I definitely agree; for big gains, gotta get better airflow.

I did have the JB4 on for a little while before my DP came in, and map 2 did feel like the car accelerated harder. Unfortunately, I don't have numbers to go with the butt dyno.

I also noticed a better exhaust note with just the AA catted DP, and way more gunshot pops in manual when downshifting. They were also a good amount louder than OEM.

This 100%, some people blow their engines with a JB4 that isn't properly done, everyones go-to is jesse so +1 on going to him
