Hi all,
I've parked my mkV 2019 the other day and 5 minutes later when I came out of the shops, the key simply stopped working.
Replaced both keys batteries several times, but still nothing.
Unlocked the door manually, alarm going off, held key to steering column, it won't register the key.
Held keys to start button, but still won't register keys. Won't start.
Disconnected the battery overnight.
Still no change.
Changed the car battery.
Still no change.
Checked all fuses in all three (3) fuse panels. All were fine.

Any ideas???

Make sure you dont have anything sitting over the subwoofers or overtop between the subwoofers. Had a similar problem when I took cans to the dump once.

Nothing there but a yoga mat.

Get new fob batteries. One of mine was dead within a month after new ownership.

I'm going to put my money on bad batteries. I've had it happen a few times for various reasons, including on push to start cars I've owned. Get a known battery brand from a reputable supplier. Anything amazon special could likely lead to exactly what you are describing. If you got a poor batch of batteries it would lend credibility to the key fob battery issue.

Edit: make sure you are putting the batteries in correctly. This may seem like common sense, but sometimes people don't pay attention.
