So I removed my front seat to find a noise it’s been making. Didn’t find the noise but when I reinstalled the seat and turned the car on I got a “car restraint system” malfunction warning that says to take it to dealer. I have BimmerCode, can that clear it? Any other way to clear it?

Bimmercode does not clear codes. You can try bimmerlink. Are you 100% sure you got everything installed right?
Sometimes a good old removing battery clears things.

Yeah, it’s all installed correctly, just one plug and the seat operates fine.

You probably shouldn't be working on cars if you don't know how to disconnect a car battery.

Bimmercode no, but you will lose nav stuff (presets, EQ settings, etc.)

Battery is in the trunk under the floor mat. DO NOT CLOSE THE TRUNK AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY! It's an electronic release, without the battery connected you won't be able to open it back up.

Just drive the car and it will clear if everything is connected properly.

No need for bimmerlink. Literally just went through this today.

Snowblind - no disrespect (well maybe a little:)) I’ve been working on cars for 35 years, I’ve built more engines than you’ve probably owned. I’ve torn cars down to just chassis, and taking out a seat on any of them has not required disconnecting a battery. That’s a new thing thus my title on this thread. You may want to consider keeping your condescending comments to yourself.

edit: may have been a bit harsh above. I know how to remove and/or disconnect a battery but on new BMWs there are particulars that need to be addressed and I believe you need to disconnect the negative, but I wasn’t 100% if that was all that needed to be done - like someone said “leave the trunk open” was the kind of advise I was after.

Turns out I was wrong. On the way to the track today I noticed it was still on. Once I got to the track I cleared it using bimmerlink and all was good after.

Sorry if I misled you!
