New Owner - So Much Hate?

I just picked up a '22 3.0 Premium yesterday and am new to this forum. I'm coming from an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio which is a tough act to follow dynamically.

Prior to that I've been a BMW M car guy for a long time... Was on the list for a new G80 M3 but the wait was going to be extensive. Plus, it's gotten so big and heavy. So that's what led me to the Supra. Less power but less weight.

To me, the BMW underpinnings are a plus, but that's because I'm a BMW guy I suppose. That said, I am surprised by just how much hate there is from the Supra purists on here. The B58 is a terrific engine and the tuning of the ZF8 seems spot on to me although I'd like a bit more drama in up shifts if I had my way.

Anyway, I get that hard core Supra fans aren't happy about the co-engineering (especially since it seems like it's 90% BMW), but can't we all learn to get along?? Happy driving...

lol there's not much hate on this forum really, most of the hate comes from the outsiders of the forums and soon to be the "manual purist" as soon as the 6 spd manual hits floors. So in actuality, it's "B58/ZF8's" vs the world.

These are mostly said by people who don’t own nor have ever had any intention of owning a MKV Supra. They typically think they are being clever by coming up with such revolutionary and original thoughts.

Personally, I don’t get the hate for someone else’s car but this forum is usually okay. We occasionally get a turd or two but this is the state of the internet in 2022…

I prefer to stay positive. Congratulations on the new car! There is a lot of awesome information on this forum and there are some great members on here. Hopefully, this outweighs the negativity that crops up from time to time. I hope you are enjoying your new Supra ?

The hate is only from 12 year old keyboard warriors online. I've never experienced anything but praise in person (and the occasional tongue-in-cheek BMW joke), even from MKIII and MKIV supra owners. It's a great car that gets a ridiculous amount of positive attention when driving around.

Upon release, the MKV Supra definitely got a ton of flack.

Nowadays, it seems the only people who are “mad” are internet kids who frequent Gapplebee’s…

Personal-experience-wise, I’ve only heard good things. Some see it as an expensive super car. Others see the badge and start talking memories (my favorite). Most break their necks just looking at it, even if they don’t care for cars.

Yeah the only haters are on the internet honestly and most of them either don't have a driver's license yet or have never driven any sports car, let alone a MKV.

When I'm driving the Supra around I wave or rev at pretty much any modified car and it's always a good time. Meets are also chill and most people just want to talk about mods or how I like the car, never had anyone say a single negative thing.

Easy to hide behind a keyboard and be salty I guess lol

There actually was! The fabled MKIV. It was quite similar to ours (inline six, 2-door liftback coupe, double-bubble roof, and so on), and some people prefer it to this day.

To my eyes, though, there's something really off about the front grill.

The people who feel the need to let you know they don’t like your car/whatever are the same people who truly need a look in the mirror to figure what’s gone so wrong in their own life. Imagine if they would take that negative energy and chose to instead make a positive impact on their future. Scary thought. Anyone who says they don’t like my car as a put-down will get the same response from me as the guy on the crotch rocket who gave it an emphatic thumbs down, I will smile and say thanks. Because I don’t know what’s so bad about your life, but my life is f***ing awesome.

There's no real hate, OP. Especially on this forum. We all have the same car. There have been a couple of Supra "purists" or whatever from ThatOtherForum™ that show up once in a while and start shit, but they usually get banned quickly for being dicks.

Aside from the occasional tiff between members, we agree on the important stuff, such as:

* Black is the best color
* Auto trans is the best/fastest
* Swapping out your downpipe is modifying your exhaust
* What the word 'knock-off' means
* The 2.0 is a reasonable engine
* What "A90" vs. "A91" means
* Ecutek or bust

So agree on the important things, ?? enjoy the car. Fuck the trolls with their 'It's a BMW' and 'It's not a real Supra.'
