Hello, This is my first post. My neighbor works for BMW and brings home different cars before production wrapped. The other day I saw what looked like the new Supra on his driveway. A couple of days later I saw him and asked him about it. He confirmed it's the Supra. He also told me that it's also the new Z4. He said both cars are almost identical. The Supra on the driveway still had BMW badges under the hood. The Z4 will only be a convertible compared to the Supra being a coupe. He said he prefers to drive the Supra. It's a small car but very stiff chassis. Because of that he wouldn't recommend it as a daily driver. But, it handles great in the canyons.
The Z4 and Supra are the same with 3 different variances of engine's. From low hp to high hp they are
Forgot the size of the engine . But, low hp is single turbo
Mid level is 3.0L Twin Turbo
High level is 3.0L Twin Turbo with Electronic Assistance (Approx 400hp)
Whether you believe me or not. I don't care. I'm not in the market to buy the Supra. I have a C7 Z06 already.

But, it does sound like a fun car to drive

This guy has 1 post, joined today, and not interested in Supra...sounds like a well planned and coordinated leak XD, as far as I'm concerned, this is the latest information. Great.

Hopefully the lowest trim is in a reasonable range.

Interesting
I honestly dont have much information past what I've posted at this point as it's gotten very hard to come by new information, especially that is reliable. However, if they do produce an electrically assisted model, it likely uses the ZF system:

This is also another avenue that could also explain that 3300lb curb weight and the car would definitely be a decent bit more expensive just for that tech. I could absolutely see 60k+ for that, especially at ~400hp.

I'm so glad i'm not the only one who's thinking this lol. I absolutely love the info though! It took us from talking about Celicas back to talking about Supras that's for sure.

That video says the Electric motor can generate 80KW (107HP). Could that full amount of power be added in the "boost" mode

Well, he could have done it if he had blurred the licesne plate so when it was leaked, they wouldn't be certain to where the hell this came from.

Now that the plate is there and the fact he said the neighbor is right there, they can track and get his ass liable for leaking information before the actual reveal.

Still, if this is in the US, there are three engine trims? A70, how much would the car weigh without that electronic assist in your opinion?

This is definitely interesting. You would think that the suspected 0-60 times would be a little lower with the amount of torque this electric motor would produce alongside the engine. Maybe the 0-60 time is for the 3.0 twin turbo none electric version?

I'm really curious now to get more information regarding all the trims.

well, you still have TSS and I have really no idea what that hybrid trans weighs unfortunately. It can't be light by any means though...

Well, the electric turbo/supercharger tech actually makes more sense for the ethos of the car, but having heard nothing of it makes me wonder and still point to the trans idea.

However, the trans option weighs a lot more as I am alluding to and you have to plug the car in, which is pretty weird for a Supra IMO.

More questions...

Best Car noted that the car could go 0-62 MPH in 3.8 seconds. With a electronic turbo could make this possible. That's what I remembered reading.

I'm more curious about the low HP version and what constiutes low to high.

Cause if there's a 275-350-425 could work with different assists.

Where's Guff?!

Well, the weight can't be determined, but if the car you tested was 3050 lbs before the TSS and the other gadgetry, I don't think toyota would allow the car to weigh 3500 lbs unless they somehow saved even more weight (unlikely) or this electronic gadgetry offsets the weight by providing insane amounts of torque to the ground like a Tesla P100D.

Does this make sense to you in terms of pricing and weight now after the leaked specs?

it's likely not electronic assistance in terms of what most are used to :)
Wouldn’t happen to be Free-Valve Technology would it? I mean being a different cylinder head and all...:hmm:
