Okay, not sure if this has been talked about at all on here, I did a quick search and nothing popped up. I have it from a fairly reliable source that the head of Toyota North America stated in a recent meeting in Mexico that the 2024 and 2025 Supras will be a 100% Toyota produced product. What I was told is Toyota has not been happy with the partnership and the engines and is killing the partnership after the 2023 models.

anyone else hear this and can confirm the validity?

I can only offer an opinion. Smells like BS. Unless they've already been deep into development there's no way they can turnaround a net-new car for the 2024 or even 2025 MY.

Hmmm... like a 3jz? :O

If this is true, I will trade my car in and get the new 100% Toyota Supra. I have always been a Toyota guy. I've several Toyotas and never had to bring in a car for a warranty issue. EXCEPT... This car.. I've officially owned my 3.0 for a year. In that year I've brought it for oil consumption issues, a recall and a CEL due to a bad sparkplug.

This partnership doesn't really represent Toyota's Reliability.

Interesting...not denying your issues, sounds more like a one off issue more than the norm.

It takes 3-5 years to develop, test and make production equivalent parts. I donā€™t see Toyota dropping that type of coin to make an all Toyota car.

This GR Supra isnā€™t Toyotaā€™s money maker. Did we forget about the LFA fiasco so soon? ?

No issues to report here after 5K miles and almost a year of ownership. My Blackstone report confirms it.

LFA was a fantastic car. Wish I could of owned one before they the ended production. I believe they were losing money on each sale, right?

Also, I know that Toyota does have a patent for a V8 twin turbo engine. I doubt they would ever put that in a Supra. My guess would be something electric if they developed a 100% Toyota Supra.

I heard that with BMW it can go either way; either you have a great car no issues for years or you get a shitty one that has problem after problem.

I'm currently at 6800 miles and the car seems to be all good. Lol so lets see how it goes as I get closer to 10k miles.

I think youā€™re right. After this series is discontinued the next Supra will be a hybrid or an EV version. All efforts are headed in that direction.

From anything Iā€™ve seen Toyota is stopping the production because they donā€™t want to make it hybrid or fully electric which would be the direction it would go. I know theyā€™re talking about the GRMN edition which uses the S65? BMW engine (I think itā€™s that one but canā€™t remember off the top of my head) but itā€™s limited production and over 100k

This seems likely to be the end result. But I wouldn't purchase a Supra for 100k. 100k might be MSRP and I'm sure dealers would mark it up to an insane price.
