Go check out what the bimmerpost insider posted awhile back. BMW did not want to pair a 6MT to the B58. Toyota was the driving force behind the whole thing.
Yeah.. I don't believe everything I read. Think about it for a second.. a large company like BMW doesn't just do things it doesn't have to.. especially if it "[doesn't] want to." There is far more likely a fiscal reason behind it - for example if Toyota footed the development bill for the MT, BMW may as well offer it in their car as its a veritable very cheap date. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Regardless the G29 is on life support and if anyone really believes that itā€™s getting another gen needs a reality check.
Agreed. I think the only reason the Z4 wasn't killed off prior to this generation was Toyota's partnership funding. Furthermore, since they are intimately connected, (and I know this is a wildly unpopular opinion) the J29 is on the very same life support.

Fair enough, but hes been more right than wrong.

Yup nothing new there both cars are going to end production in 2026.

That extra 5 months of production will probably be more than enough for a whole 27 MY supply.
Iā€™d assume a car finished in Austria 3/26 shouldnā€™t take longer than 4/5 months to get anywhere in the world even with shipping delays and tropical storms (like Hilary). At worst Iā€™d think cars trickling into snowy parts of the USA getting into dealers fall of 2026 for a 3/26 build.

ā€˜27 would be an awfully long time without any more major changes to the platform. Iā€™m interested to see what they have in store.

Global numbers tell a different story. ~11.7k Z4s sold vs ~7.6k Supras sold globally, last year in 2022.

A bulk of those sales come from Europe. I only bring that up because with stricter EU emission laws coming in place soon I doubt developing a new low selling niche product like another Z4 will be BMW's top priority
