OK, first post, long-time BMW owner here, M cars, previous gen Z4, Corvettes, etc. And I'm not a big guy, about 5'8" 150lbs but I keep hitting my head getting in and out of the car. My salesman was grunting and having trouble too. We're both seniors...

That's really my only complaint with the car. I want to buy one, but I'd like to hear from other seniors or folks who also had/have this problem.

Thanks!

I'm 6'3, 245lbs with a long torso and yep, really gotta twist yourself and drop into the seat. But I'm only mid 30s but I feel it. It's so worth it though

I'm 5'10" and 190, and when I wear my white new balances and jean shorts.... zero issues getting in and out. Once I am in, I can take all my pills.

If I wear, say, Nikes, and pants. I cannot drive the car and I am bed ridden with my toaster strudles. @concept, can you feel me. Seriously, please feel me... because I can't feel shit.

Getting in: Ass sideways on the seat, fold forward with head down and rotate 90 deg. It's definitely not the easiest.

Getting out: I place my outside hand on the door sill and kinda roll out like I'm doing a one handed rolling push up. Having that giant sill there and sitting so low actually makes getting out easier than most sedans once you get the hang of it.

Totally agree w above. 63 years old, 5’11” w a bad lumbar from 17 years of pulling 7.5G’s. Not easy to get in’n out but soooo much love driving it. It’s a sports car, almost track ready out of the box. It should be a little idiosyncratic…?

OP- I'm about your size..well, weight a bit more :dunno:

You'll get use to it, I think. I just make sure not to rub my butt across the side bolster while getting in/out preventing any unnecessary wear on the seat. I only drive my car during the warm months and sunny weekends, so not a daily thing.

I found that sitting on the side rail parallel to the seat and then sliding straight back with my head tucked and towards left shoulder a little bit makes it easier for me to cross the lip. Then, I straighten up and rotate 90 degrees while using my right foot to straighten my hips in the seat as I bring the left leg in.

For getting out, I rotate and bring my bottom and back close to the center console, duck my head a little bit, and transfer back to the side rail. Then stand straight up from there.

I'm about 6'3 280 lbs w/a previous spine injury, so I have to be careful with body mechanics.

Hopefully that helps!

After owning an even smaller and lower MX5 for 12 years, getting into my Supra is a piece of cake. Seniors inevitably lose muscle mass, so doing a minimum of squat or lunge exercises on a regular basis will help.

I've never had a problem getting in and out because I naturally duck like I'm stepping into a boxing ring when I get in. However, I cannot for the life of me get into a Corvette because I'll wack my head Throttle House Intro-style every. single. time. because I get in the same way.

So I guess my suggestion is to do the opposite of whatever you do to get into a Corvette.
