This looks correct. Don’t forget to buy the Subframe Torque to Yield bolts, they’re single use. My dealership bought a lot of stuff to replace. Even new rubber grommets and such. I’ll see if I can find the paperwork.

So, the saga begins. Took the car out of storage this Spring and it said I needed an oil change (time not miles as I had only driven it 1200 miles since 11/23 as I was down to 2mm on the front pads from track days). Anyways, got the brakes done last month and I kept checking the oil level after I reset the warning message. Only went to 18-19% and then shut off. Even after “recommended” 30 minute drive. Took it in today for LOF, the 3G software update (car is not tused)and to trouble shoot the failure to measure. Tech says it measured after then oil change and “thinks” the failure before was related to the warning message, somehow it was preventing the computer from reading levels since it had been 16 months between LOF. Hmmm … I told service advisor since I reset the service interval. So, took car home, well over 30 minute drive on the interstate, and guess what? Still won‘t measure the oil level, but at least now it stops at 21%. Going back tomorrow morning. Will see what they say. I think the tech only went to the check oil level in the menu and didn’t try to measure it because when you get to that first screen it says oil level OK and shows a green filled block. UGH!

It works for me, I dunno why, but if I drive anywhere longer than 10 minutes it doesn't allow me to measure oil. Weird, but I think potentially a software bug rather than a failing oil pump?

I wouldn't be relying on that assumption for the the continued viability of the engine. A check of the engine oil pressure scheduling would be a wise precaution.

Interesting. I’ve tried mine from cold start after short drives. Doesn’t matter - at least for me. But I’ll try that. Thanks!

He spoke to the “Supra tech,” who did not want to discuss this with the customer (me). Since there are no codes, the tech won‘t do anything further. Best they could do was to suggest I call corporate. 800-331-4331. Really sux that this is a known failure progression and they want to wait until it begins to show oil pressure codes. Gonna take it on a 2,000 mile road trip next week and hope it doesn’t blow up on me in the middle of east bumblefuck. FML.

Then tell them to fix the issue of it not reading oil level. If he won’t jump to replacing oil pump. He can’t just ignore the oil level reading not functioning. Take it to another dealer lol. Shit tech right there. even tho the other Supra tech at the other dealers may be the same

Nice tack to take. I used that when I uploaded a failure video to the complaint site. Told them I paid $94 for diagnostics and the failure mode was not fixed. Let’s see. Thanks for the pro tip!

Pretty common among dealers of all brands to bat off warranty work. Sometimes because they don't want the job because it costs them money in labour and sometimes because they don't have the confidence to asses it correctly and don't want to wear the cost that way if they get it wrong.
Answer is, find a competent dealer thats got some balls in the service department.

So how long can we technically "live with" the default high pressure scenario before it becomes detrimental to the engine? Until the CEL comes on?

Not being able to measure the oil is annoying but not scary since I haven't burned or lost any oil in my 5 years of ownership and do religious oil changes myself once a year. (I only drive like 4000 miles a year.)

If only we had a normal dipstick... Don't worry, not gonna start a new oil thread.
