I'm not going to elaborate further, but what the person that posted on Jalopnik wasn't entirely correct... that said, the premise isn't wrong :)
I'm assuming the 330hp & 382hp is off. All the people from the El Paso Toyota dealership presentation reported 350hp. And like Johnny said, in the past you have a hinted that the beefier B58 will be slightly over 400hp.

In 2020, the 4-cylinder variant is to follow, which, however, is oriented primarily to the Asian region, in which penalty tax has to be paid for large-volume engines. (explains why there has been much less info on it and many of us speculated this may be why)
For me, it is best if Toyota doesn’t introduce the inline-4 anymore. It would just ruin the Supra’s tradition of having all inline-6 engines, back to the A40. The Supra has already been synonymous with inline-6. If Toyota will sell a 4-banger with the MkV, it will be the very first 4-cylinder Supra. Doesn’t quite sound right for me.

What do you guys think?

They might just call the 4 cylinder model Celica.

Assuming the 'track' trim is the GR model, with a 90k USD price tag as hinted at in other threads.
You're not serious....90K for 388bhp? This will be the laughing stock of the car world.

at this point all special models would surely be a business case stage only, pending the success of the first launch of the A90. If they don't meet their (albeit modest, as disclosed) sales targets - there will be zero fancy editions.

Is the Cayman GT4 the laughingstock of the car world? 385bhp for around $90-$105k, yet it is considered a bargain for the amount of car you get.
The complete picture of the car is more than just power..
Of course there's value in the Porsche badge over Toyota, but you can't underestimate the effect of weight on performance.

The GT4 is a hell of a car, but as you say...

It's a Porsche, and I think an affordable supra with extraordinary tunability is what we all should want.

I've been doing a bit of digging around the B58 TU updates, and found some things to note:

https://www.ibmwclub.com/n/47910

After studing this and the RealOE parts catalogue, I'm convinced the photos that Guff took, and that we through were individual cast runners, are in fact the integrated manifold design.

Interestingly, this article says the Supra will feature a modified engine based on B58TU architechture.

Integrated exhaust manifold would be a really dumb move if tunability is considered for this car. I really hope the engine is based on B58M30O1 architechture. If it was tested to serious numbers with any decent change of longevity, an integrated manifold won't work.

Also, don't be confused - the B58M30O1 is the 388PS (metric hp) aka 382hp version.

340PS is 335hp.

You might be on to something here.

What if the reason the Toyota supra only has one spec for both EU and NA (of course not confirmed yet by Toyota) is because they are only using the B58M30O1 architecture engine which will better support Tada's tunability claim, Toyota's don't stress the engine philosophy (just like the 2jz).
