1. Will you buy the 2020 Supra as soon as you can? Or will you wait for the 2021? (Or later)
- Have a reservation in already, 3rd one at my dealer.

2. What color combination will you get?

- Red with black interior if possible (to match my GT86) but if it only comes with the red interior then white, silver, grey or black.

3. What will you use your car for primarily? (Daily driving? Weekend? Track?)

- Mix of daily and weekend, will avoid driving in winter (GT86 winter car ftw)

4. How much do you expect to drive your car per year?

- Probably around 5000 miles.

5. What performance modifications will you do and when will you do them?

- Depends on warranty but likely exhaust (get rid of the EU particulate filter for those extra horses) maybe an intake.

6. What cosmetic modifications will you do and when will you do them?

- Probably wheels at some point.

7. Have you thought of a cool vanity license plate for your new car yet?

- Already bought the UK plate SU19PRA.

8. What, if anything, might persuade you not to buy this car?
- Price.

9. Do you think you will end up buying it anyways or is this a deal breaker for you?

- Deal breaker for long term, might still buy it and sell it sooner than expected. If much over ÂŁ50k it gets into some other interesting cars, but I expect around ÂŁ50k to be roughly the price.

Yes, I'll buy it anyways, because Supra. As of now, my judgement is still held, but regardless, I and along with everyone else (who shares the same view), will probably accept the car the way it is.

By the way, this is a good thread, we should look back into this thread years later to see who honored their plans for the Supra

1. Will you buy the 2020 Supra as soon as you can? Or will you wait for the 2021? (Or later)

I will wait for a later version and get an older version (once it's gone through a year or two of depreciation).

2. What color combination will you get?

That red without a doubt!

3. What will you use your car for primarily? (Daily driving? Weekend? Track?)

Weekend driver/Track car.

4. How much do you expect to drive your car per year?

Not sure, but I won't be looking at the miles at all lol.

5. What performance modifications will you do and when will you do them?

Maybe turbo, downpipe, exhaust, intake, tune.

6. What cosmetic modifications will you do and when will you do them?

Wheels and venting (getting rid of any fake vents and hopefully routing air to the right places.

7. Have you thought of a cool vanity license plate for your new car yet?

Nope, not into vanity plates.

8. What, if anything, might persuade you not to buy this car?

I think the biggest factor that might turn me off would be the feeling I get being inside the car. I've only had one 2 seater (79 Rx7) and I'm not too fond of that. I would rather have a 4 seater, but if I'm comfortable and like being inside the Supra, I'll probably purchase.

9. Do you think you will end up buying it anyways or is this a deal breaker for you?

I'm leaning towards purchasing a used Mkv ( :

Another question you should add is:

Are you getting the 4cylinder or 6cylinder? Why?
6 cylinder for me. It’s smoother and more balanced. I’m going Supra mainly because of the straight 6. For me, it’s what makes the Supra a Supra. It’s the true heart and soul of the Supra. But I would also consider the 4 cylinder....only if they’ll offer it with manual transmission.

1. Will you buy the 2020 Supra as soon as you can? Or will you wait for the 2021? (Or later)

Ideally, a pre-owned with less than 5k Kms on it. But knowing myself I might just buy a brand new one if I run out of patience.

2. What color combination will you get?

Yellow with red/black interior.

3. What will you use your car for primarily? (Daily driving? Weekend? Track?)

Weekend/Track.

4. How much do you expect to drive your car per year?

20,000 Kms (being realistic, lol)

5. What performance modifications will you do and when will you do them?

Exhaust + filter element + tune (maybe a BOV). Lowering springs when I get the wheels.

6. What cosmetic modifications will you do and when will you do them?

CF lip and diffuser. Varis style fenders (pretty sure they'll make it for this car) Wider wheels to fill up the gap, but at a later stage.

7. Have you thought of a cool vanity license plate for your new car yet?

Cant get those in my country, but I will get a mini side-plate for the front to not ruin the nose.

8. What, if anything, might persuade you not to buy this car?

Biggest factor is price because you can get very good, barely driven pre-owned cars for around $55-60 K.
(M4, TT-RS, Cayman, Camaro, GT350 etc).

9. Do you think you will end up buying it anyways or is this a deal breaker for you?

I will buy it. It will have huge aftermarket support like the 86, it will probably become the best rwd platform for enthusiasts who like modding/tuning cars.

First off, we are all the wrong people to ask.
Toyota Isn't making this car for us (enthusiasts). Its paying homage to us, but its not us that its targeting.
Its targeting the casual buyer who knows little to nothing about cars. Theses are the people who are NOT on forums arguing semantics. They are the people who care more about gadgets than driving experience, who only buy new, who want a reasonably priced, blingy/flashy, sports car, but are not going to use it for purpose, who leave it parked up on the driver over night, repeat for 3 years until something breaks, and then cash it in on a new one. This forum is an entirely different demographic to the sales target.
Although you have really good points here I'd have to disagree a little bit. Based off the all the info I've read about this car I think Toyota isn't building this car from purely a monetary standpoint. Im sure there will be those buyers who don't know jack about cars, wanna lease for 3 years, not change the oil and return the car when the time is up but I doubt they will be the majority. Generally those ppl are brand conscious and wouldn't spend money to lease a 60k Toyota when they can just get a Z4 or some Mercedes. I think Toyota knows going in that they won't sell a ton of these and sales will be nowhere near the sales of the 4runners and Avalons and whatnot. (I'm talking about less selling models). It's gonna be a similar ideology to them building the TRD Camry and the TRD Avalon (which is honestly kind of dumb imo especially with no power upgrades--idk who is gonna spend 40k on those).

But then again they aren't making a manual and the engine/trans is borrowed from BMW so it's not truly paying homage to the Supra fans. Who knows maybe they are targeting both types of buyers. A couple more months and we'll find out!

1. Will you buy the 2020 Supra as soon as you can? Or will you wait for the 2021? (Or later)
Depends how good it is but probably later because of depreciation and concern about the lack of Toyota engine and transmission.

2. What color combination will you get?

Yellow on black!

3. What will you use your car for primarily? (Daily driving? Weekend? Track?)

Weekend and maybe track

4. How much do you expect to drive your car per year?

5k miles

5. What performance modifications will you do and when will you do them

1. FBO + tune
2. 2JZ swap when the BMW engine starts breaking down constantly (as a former 335i owner, I fully expect this to happen)
3. DCT/manual if the car doesn't come with a proper sports car transmission

6. What cosmetic modifications will you do and when will you do them?

None

7. Have you thought of a cool vanity license plate for your new car yet?

No

8. What, if anything, might persuade you not to buy this car?

Price /options affect when I would buy. IllI'test drive one as soon as I can. If it's significantly better than my 911, I would buy it asap. If not, I'm willing to wait. Given what I have heard about the chassis, suspension, and brakes, I'm confident I will get one, but if the engine and transmission are as bad as I've heard they will be, then I'm willing to wait 5-10 years and pick one up for pennies on the dollar.

9. Do you think you will end up buying it anyways or is this a deal breaker for you?

I'll buy one eventually.

I plan to wait and place an order Oct 2019. I hope I can wait that long.

2. What color combination will you get?
Black exterior but open to something colorful inside

3. What will you use your car for primarily? (Daily driving? Weekend? Track?)
Weekend/toy

4. How much do you expect to drive your car per year?
Maybe 3k miles

5. What performance modifications will you do and when will you do them?
Most likely just bolt ons (I,E,tune, etc)

6. What cosmetic modifications will you do and when will you do them?
Most likely bag it and some wheels, within first 6 months of ownership

7. Have you thought of a cool vanity license plate for your new car yet?
Not yet

8. What, if anything, might persuade you not to buy this car?
Price to fun factor... if over $70k optioned out, I may have to move along

9. Do you think you will end up buying it anyways or is this a deal breaker for you?
Fingers crossed

Use my NEW 2020 Supra For Development / R&D / Automotive Journalists

Hello all,

In the spirit of spreading the gospel of how this vehicle will be, and because I foresee a lack of inventory within the first year of its release, I will make this 2020 Toyota Supra LAUNCH EDITION available to companies that participate in the following activities:
  • Aftermarket Performance Products (Air intakes, Suspension)
  • Automotive Journalists
  • Performance Testing
  • Ride & Drives
  • Competitive Comparison
  • Marketing Agencies
  • Focus Studies
  • Product Prototyping
  • Emissions Testing
  • Photography & Video
  • Cinematography
Be the first to have this car without the wait or having to buy it and tie up precious funds.

Please note: Unfortunately if you are an individual looking to rent a car for a day or so for fun, I can not help you as I am not a public car rental operation.

If you are interested in using this vehicle for what I mentioned above, please send me a message via the forum and I will reply promptly. I am not difficult to work with, so long as things make sense and there is honesty I will have no problems.

Thank you all.
