Damn I wake up to pages of beautiful cooling info…. ? What happened to an aftermarket manifold being the holy grail of all our cooling needs? If/when my ride starts getting too toasty.

I will admit, I don’t drive during our 6 month summer and thus don’t have issues. I’m not running any extra power mods other than a catless downpipe. Oil temps and heat soak seem to be the main theme I’ve heard from the FL Bimmer track group. There will always be new guys to the sport trying to add more power and end up spending more time off track than on. In general, we all know extreme heat driving cost the most (wear and down time) in any car.

Sorry Bryan @razorlab but need to rewind here for idiots like me. What happened to your manifold? Are you getting heat soak, reduced lap times (as expected) as the day goes on? I might be missing something & apologies. Short on time today. But appreciate the clarification y’all. And understand anyone running in extreme heat will need some extra TLC. But for the average track rat ?, not competing in the summer, the car really does well for us down here at sea level.

What conditions are you guys getting oil temps too high on track and what‘s the result? Limp mode? Heat soak (reduced lap times)?

Thanks for clarifying y’all! I just haven’t seen these issue myself, I mistakenly thought the aftermarket manifold would be the no. 1 fix, if/when problem were to arise.

Manifold still working well. I have no IAT,Oil,Coolant issues with 500whp, which is why it's odd that people with totally stock tunes are getting 300F+ oil temps in 75* weather.

So what, PWR? Stock? Here's a log in the 75F weather.
Yea these seem very high for the weather. Not a very long or high speed track either. Oil and coolant for sure. I would at least try doing the high-temp circuit bleeding procedure.

For reference, here is mine 8 laps in at Lime Rock with my 440whp map (22psi max), same ambient temp:

Here is mine 9 laps in at Lime Rock with my 440whp map (22psi max), 85F ambient temp:

Here is mine 10 laps in at Lime Rock with my 510whp map (27psi max), 80F ambient temp:

I definitely will. I think I'm going to re-do the flushes, I'm almost wondering if I got too much concentrate and not enough distilled water in my mix. Probably throw in some water wetter.

So you are stock heat exchangers with a Wagner intake mani and a hood vent, and that's pretty much it, huh? Wild. Appreciate all the info, as always.

Yup, all stock rads and exchangers, Wagner intake mani, Pure700 turbo, Triple7 GT4 hood vent, E40 tunes.

I didn't do too much logging last year on stock tune, no power mods, no cooling mods, but here is one in 70* ambient later in the year at Lime Rock, 10 laps in:

The brand is Autolifters of America. You can see the sliding jack crossing the ramps.

Yes and I have two sliders so you can lift the entire chassis or just front or back. Honestly best of both worlds been great. You also can work under the car without laying on your back. I also store the car on the sliders as they lock in position so the car is of the tires and suspension for the winter

How easy is it to move cars. Say I got my MX5 or Supra up there and want to flip em? Love the setup!

super easy unless the car doesnt start. I have ramps you just lower it to the ground drive on and off in like two seconds.

@razorlab, do you think after these last few track days that doing the proper coolant bleed will actually do anything? Is there really no way for these cars to "self burp" the bubbles? I would figure any gaps/bubbles would've worked itself out by now.
