Slowing getting the Supra ready for track season.

While doing some research on good alignment shops, I found out there are none very close to my new place of residence. I then decided to finally invest in a good string alignment setup.

This was surprisingly pretty easy to setup and use. The most tedious part is lowering the car down, driving it back and then forward to settle the suspension and then take measurements again. Luckily this setup is mounted on the car so you don’t have to reset it every time.

This is also the first car I have owned that had jack points so low. Even with my very modest .5” lower set height, I can’t get my quickjacks under the car without driving the car up some ramps and wooden blocks.

So, now I have the coilovers fully installed with SPL rear toe bars, rear traction bars, front lower camber arms and bumpsteer bits, and the ride height and alignment all done. I have a track event next Friday. Looks like the weather should be mid to high fifties. Currently showing rain so crossing my fingers that changes. It’s currently snowing with about 3” on the ground. ?
Just happened to scroll by... When you are doing an alignment that suspension will be bound up without having anything to let the tires naturally settle. You can make really cheap grease plates that you put under the tires and it lets this happen instantly. Rolling forward and back does help but I find plates to be much more consistent and you wont risk knocking the rig and strings and wanting to jump off a bridge after the 3rd time.

KSR just made a video on this if you are interested:

Yea. I have since bought some swivel plates. Works a charm. Love saving time and money doing alignments at home now.

Tons of traffic at the track his past weekend. Most traffic I have seen so far at an East Coast event. I maybe got three clean laps the whole day and my tires where pretty overheated by that time.

Here are two laps from the day. 14 laps into a session. First lap in the video (lap 14) I am trying to cool the tires down a little, second lap (lap 15) looked open finally so I was going for a flyer but the tires had other plans. I'm usually not very verbal while driving but you can hear my frustration in this footage, lol. I still was able to drive the car home so that is a HPDE win in my book. ;)

I think this is the fourth time at Lime Rock so far. Getting used to the track. Aiming for a sub 1 min before the end of the year, which is respectably fast for a street car. We'll see!

I'm posting more on youtube and the supra track facebook group if people care.

I generally have moved on from this forum as most posts are about car bowling, photos of a car in a garage or questions like it's the first car they have ever owned.
I enjoy seeing track builds on the forums. And YouTube. Not much a fan of the general FB car groups as there seems to be tons of low effort or repetitive posts and FB groups in general set up for disorganization (not so much with the Mk5 track group, but in general). Anyway, nice build.

Awesome to see you tracking your Supra a lot recently. How’s it feeling?

Also, what alignment kit and swivel plates did you get? Looking to get some myself so I don’t have to deal with shops messing my car up anymore and save some money, too.

Lime Rock again today. Soooo close to F'in sub 60, it's killing me. A fraction of a second somewhere would have tipped the scale. Going again tomorrow although the tires feel like they are heat cycling out, so we'll see!

So how do we find you on YouTube?
I googled and couldn't find you.

Duh ?‍♂, of course, sorry.
So how highly do you recommend the Project Mu club racer pads?

Went to Palmer Motorsports park this weekend. Third time at this track, second time in the clockwise config.

I love this track, it's very challenging and a rollercoaster ride. I very much respect this track as I have seen a fair amount of crashes here so I don't drive it as hard as other tracks but still like to chip away time every time I go!
