So one thing I’ve noticed is that when I seem to find the perfect seating position, the side mirrors obstruct the view when I’m turning, especially on the drivers side which occasionally blinds me if a pedestrian is crossing. I’ve went through other threads but haven’t found a definitive answer.

Does anyone else experience this issue, or is it something where I have to get used to trusting my senses?

I've honestly never noticed. I do have a car where I sit about 14" off the ground, so the mirrors are up higher, to get a decent view of the cars beside me. THOSE mirrors block most of my view of corners and pedestrians. Maybe, compared to that, the Supra seems okay to me.

I’ve never noticed that in mine. Maybe you could try raising your seat higher?

100%. Port and starboard visibility is quite poor. The cowl, hood, and belt lines are just too high . It would help if the door mirrors were actually mounted on the door, and there was a little glass window in their current place.

If @suicidaleggroll were an asshole, he'd have asked "have you tried being taller?". FWIW, I'm only 5'9", and I haven't noticed the side mirrors obstructing my vision. (The A pillars, on the other hand, often obstruct my view on curves of a certain angle, but that's a problem in all modern cars with fat, air-bag-filled pillars.)

@rideping, are you unusually short? Or maybe you have your seat adjusted really low and the seatback angled way back?

I was trying to be delicate, lol

And you're right, the A-pillars are definitely a problem due to the airbags. Rear visibility is also pretty bad, but between the backup camera and Rexpeed convex side mirrors I don't really mind it.

ITT, a bunch of short people not used to driving a low sports car with a long hood and suboptimal visibility.

Honestly there is no real fix to this without either raising the seat and looking like you're sitting on a booster seat, or looking farther ahead to try and preemptively predict.

Honestly, it's something you need to get used to. Just have to be extra aware. I have to raise the seat up a little higher if I know I'm driving in areas with lots of people.

I don't think I've noticed any real issues with it. I had a 370Z and the visibility seems about the same if not better in the supra.

I had this same issue with the 5th gen Camaro. The driver's side A pillar and the side view mirror combined to form this perfect visibility black hole that felt like it obstructed a lot. I eventually got used to it.

I do not feel like my Supra has that same problem. Either that or my previous Camaro experience has completely desensitized me to it.

Better solution ?, just rev the engine make some pops and ppl will move out of your way!! Problem solved!!

But on serious note, yea it's something you'll just have to get use to and find your perfect seat setting and mirror setting and drive carefully bro!!

Who needs to see pedestrians when the car will see them and brake for you. Just trust the car, and if that doesn't work, blame the Germans.
